Who was Shawna Trpcic?
Shawna Trpcic was a well-known costume designer who came from Artesia, California and had an interesting path to follow on the way to success. When she was a senior in high school, she had aspirations of becoming a truck driver; however, an enthusiastic art teacher inspired her to pursue her artistic talents instead of pursuing her original career goal.
Because of this advice, she decided to pursue a degree in fashion design at Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles. During Shawna’s senior year, she was offered a position on the team of the well-known costume designer Bob Mackie.
She took advantage of this opportunity. Her passion for science fiction and comic books was the impetus for her interest in costume design. She saw it as a chance to produce art for the human body while also designing characters with multiple dimensions.

Shawna’s career in costume design started with illustration work for Oscar-winning director Albert Wolsky on the film “Bugsy.” She subsequently became his assistant on the Barry Levinson film “Toys.” She soon began designing her own costumes for her own endeavors.

Shawna’s most significant contribution to the Star Wars universe was her extensive work on programs created by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. She has designed costumes for multiple seasons of “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and most recently “Ahsoka,” for which she has received praise.
Her collaboration with Jon and Dave, along with her dedicated costume design team and the talented actors, produced costumes and characters that are unforgettable. Even Lucasfilm established a warehouse in Manhattan Beach to store her numerous costumes.
