Separate boat mishaps in Massachusetts and Missouri over the weekend injured multiple individuals and killed at least one.
According to Massachusetts State Police (MSP), a 17-year-old girl was murdered and five others were injured when a boat collided with a jetty on Cape Cod on Friday night. The boat crashed into Sesuit Harbor in Dennis, Massachusetts, around 9 p.m. local time.
Authorities say the 17-year-old’s body was retrieved about 11:30 p.m. local time by the MSP regional dive team with assistance from the Dennis Fire-Rescue team. She was declared deceased at the spot.
The adolescent who d!ed was identified as Sadie Mauro in a letter acquired by ABC News from Dover Sherborn High School classmates and staff.
“Our school community is devastated and heartbroken,” the school said. “Sadie’s smile could light up a room, she had a heart of gold and the sweetest spirit. She had such a strong sense of self and had a love for adventure and anything outdoors. A hardworking student and great athlete, Sadie was genuine and effortlessly kind.”
The school will provide counseling services to kids and staff members on Monday. Another passenger, a teenage male, had a head laceration and was sent to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment. As part of their ongoing investigation, the MSP Marine Unit and the Underwater Recovery Unit will dive and explore the crash site for boat debris on Sunday.
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District, Dennis police, and the Cape and Island District Attorney’s Office are all looking into Mauro’s de@th. A drunken boater crashed ashore and damaged a residence in the Lake of the Ozarks on Saturday, injuring eight people.

The incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, local time, when the 1200 horsepower boat ran aground, crashed into a shorefront residence, capsized, and ejected its seven passengers and driver. Two passengers had mild injuries, while five passengers and the boat’s driver suffered catastrophic injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the boat’s driver, Adam Ramirez, 47, of Huntington Beach, California, was charged with two counts of boating while drunk on Sunday morning. He was later freed for medical treatment.
