Keith McNally wrote on Instagram, “I strongly believe in second chances,” explaining why James Corden will no longer be banned from his restaurant. Balthazar in New York City is happy to have James Corden back.

Keith McNally, the owner of a restaurant, said that the 44-year-old host of a late-night talk show apologized to him after McNally, 71, criticized Corden for what McNally said was his bad behavior in the restaurant.

“James Corden just called and apologized a lot,” McNally wrote on Instagram next to a picture of Corden. “I’ve made more mistakes than most people, so I’m a firm believer in second chances.”

He then made a joke that Corden could come back to his restaurant if he let him host his show for nine months. He wrote, “So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for nine months, I’ll immediately lift his ban from Balthazar.”

“No, of course not,” McNally said. “But anyone kind enough to apologize to a slacker like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere, especially Balthazar.”

In the end, he wrote directly to Corden, “So Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven. xx.” People asked Corden’s rep for a comment, but they didn’t hear back right away. His supposed apology comes just a few hours after McNally said that Corden was kicked off of Balthazar.

“James Corden is a Hugely talented comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man,” he wrote earlier on Monday. “And the rudest customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”

McNally also said, “I don’t usually say ’86’ to a customer, but I did to Corden today. It didn’t make me laugh.”

He went on to talk about what he called the “funny man’s treatment of my staff” the two times Corden came to his restaurant. He also said Corden did the same thing at McNally’s previous restaurant, Cafe Luxembourg.

McNally said that the first story happened in June when Corden was at table 61 and found a hair in his food. “This is terrible, but it does happen very rarely in all restaurants,” McNally wrote.

He said that after eating his main course, Corden “showed the hair to Balthazar manager G., who was very sorry. Corden was very rude to G and said, “Get us another round of drinks right now, and also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way, I won’t have to write any bad reviews on Yelp or anywhere else.”

In another alleged incident from earlier this month, McNally said that Corden was complaining about his wife’s food.

McNally said, “That’s when James Corden started yelling like crazy at the server, ‘You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelet myself!'”

He said that the server was “very sorry and brought G. over to the table. He returned the dish, and after that, everything was fine. He gave them free Champagne glasses to smooth things over. G. said that Corden was nice to him but mean to the server. M.K. was very shaken but, being a professional, she finished her shift.

McNally had told Source before that he didn’t want to talk about Corden’s alleged actions, but that he did so “out of loyalty to restaurant servers everywhere.”
