Andrew Tate, a controversial influencer, was barred from Facebook and Instagram for what Meta described as a violation of its policy.

In response to breaking business rules, a Meta representative confirmed to Newsweek that Tate is no longer permitted to access both social networking networks, citing Meta’s limits on “threatening individuals and organizations.”

Tate, a former kickboxer who competed on the popular reality series Big Brother in 2016, has been making news for his divisive opinions, which have frequently been called “dangerous” and “misogynistic.”

Tate had 4.7 million Instagram followers when she was barred.

The current update from Meta to ban Tate was welcomed by the British advocacy organization Hope Not to Hate. Tate “poses a significant threat to young males, radicalizing them towards extremist misogyny, racism, and homophobia,” according to Joe Mulhall, head of research at Hope Not Hate, in an interview with the BBC.

Mulhall noted that his organization is urging TikTok to do the same.

After a video of Tate reportedly beating a woman with a belt surfaced, which he claimed at the time was consensual, Tate was fired from the 17th season of Big Brother.

His fame quickly grew after his debut on the program. After saying that women should “take responsibility” for being sexually attacked following the development of the #MeToo movement, Tate was also banned from Twitter in 2017.

Tate’s fan following has grown significantly since then. He has gained millions of followers across platforms and supporters from men’s rights activist groups and far-right influencers, becoming a symbol of hypermasculinity.

Tate has received criticism for his remarks regarding his treatment of women in numerous videos, podcasts, and interviews throughout the years. In one video that Barstool Sports posted on YouTube, Tate claimed that he needed to have “power over women.”

He added, “You can’t be accountable for a dog if it doesn’t obey you,” later adding, “You can’t have responsibility over a dog that doesn’t obey you.”

Along with beating women, he has said that “women can’t fight” and that female self-defense is “bulls**t.”

He declared, “You’re incapable of managing real violence, and you’re incapable of fighting.”

According to him, women in their 20s are less appealing than those who are 18 because “they’ve gone through less d**k.”

He has also stated his opinions that men are incapable of feeling or displaying emotions, that women shouldn’t be allowed to drive, and that he “doesn’t believe in depression.”

Tate’s Romanian residence was reportedly searched by police in April as part of a human trafficking probe, according to the Daily Beast. Although Tate has not been accused of any crimes or placed under arrest, there have been reports that a woman was allegedly held against her will in his home.
