About Shirley Hughes
Shirley Hughes is Tony Hughes’s mother. After Jeffrey Dahmer was caught, she gave an interview in which she said that her son was friendly, liked making new friends, and liked to help people.
Tony had also planned to spend the night in Milwaukee, where his mother was visiting family at the time of her son’s death. She couldn’t understand how he had died in such a horrible way, so she went there to spend the night.
After Jeffrey’s death became public, one of the charitable groups sent therapists to help the families of the victims deal with their loss and move on. Shirley fought hard, got back up, and turned to her faith to help her feel better.
She was very sad when her son died, and she spoke out against Dahmer later. “I want people to know that Dahmer is not someone with a mental illness who couldn’t help himself. She said he was acting like he was sure of himself.
“He’s a monster who should have been locked up a long time ago,” Shirley told people not to feel bad for Dahmer and said he deserved to be put to death. “I don’t care how long it takes; I want him to fry,” she said. It makes sense that Shirley is upset and hurt, and what she said about Dahmer and what he did sheds important light on him and what he did.
