Ian Punnett’s Life and Career
Ian Punnett was born on March 3, 1960, in Wilmette, Illinois. He earned an English literature and rhetoric degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988.
He then attempted a career in radio, where he went by the moniker “Ian Case” on several broadcasts. He co-hosted rock morning radio shows on WXLP in the Quad Cities and WKDF in Nashville during the 1980s and 1990s.
He has also worked as a talk radio host for WGN in Chicago and WGST in Atlanta. Punnett rose to prominence as the co-host of the Ian and Margery Show on myTalk 107.1, a lifestyle and entertainment radio station in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
He and his wife, Margery, amused and informed listeners from 2002 to 2012. He also hosted Coast to Coast AM, a popular late-night radio show, from the 1990s to 2012.
The show included issues such paranormal phenomena, conspiracy theories, and alternative medicine. Punnett was the usual Saturday night host, and he also filled in for other hosts throughout the week.
Punnett was passionate about both education and religion. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta and was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church.
He also earned a Ph.D. in journalism and mass communication from Arizona State University in 2017, with a dissertation on real crime storytelling. He then became a lecturer at Kansas State University, where he also served as the main operator and faculty advisor for Wildcat 91.9, the student radio station.
Ian Punnett’s Health Challenges and Personal Life
Punnett had various health issues throughout his life, including a genetic non-alcoholic liver condition and tinnitus. His liver condition resulted in excessive levels of iron in his blood, which could harm his organs and tissues.
Tinnitus caused him to have a constant ringing in his ears, impairing his hearing and sleep quality. Despite these challenges, Punnett remained courageous and determined to work and follow his hobbies. Punnett has been married to Margery, his co-host and life partner, for more than 30 years.
They have two grown children: a boy and a daughter. Punnett was a kind and loyal husband and father who valued spending time with his family and friends. He also had a great sense of humor and an enthusiasm for life, which he shared with his audience and students.
