We would like to express our gratitude to the professionals and colleagues at the Royal Marsden and Brompton Hospitals for their excellent care over the last few weeks.

Haydn Gwynne’s cancer type was never revealed to the public. Based on her symptoms and treatment, some outlets thought that it could have been ovarian cancer.

Haydn Gwynne was born in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex, on May 10, 1957. She studied English and Italian at Nottingham University before working as a teacher in Italy and London. She also attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied classical singing.

In the late 1980s, she began her acting career in TV series such as Nice Work and The Ruth Rendell Mysteries. She gained prominence in 1990 when she was cast as Alex Pates, a caustic and clever journalist, in Channel 4’s comedy series Drop the Dead Donkey.
