During training camp, the Cincinnati Bengals experienced a major scare with franchise quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow was taken off the field during Thursday’s practice after suffering a non-contact injury. Before being pulled from the session, he grasped his lower leg.
Head coach Zac Taylor stated after practice that Burrow had a calf issue, and the team confirmed to ESPN that Burrow has a strained calf. Taylor said on Friday that Burrow will be gone for several weeks and that the team will attempt to add a quarterback to the team’s other two healthy passers (Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning), who will rotate by day for the time being.
According to NFL Network, the team brought in former XFL quarterbacks Reid Sinnett and Drew Plitt for a workout on Saturday and plans to sign Sinnett. You can see a tweet below:

Before the club acknowledged Burrow’s strain, wide receiver and close friend Ja’Marr Chase told reporters why he believes Burrow will be fine. “We always give each other that nod,” Chase said after practice, according to The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. “He gave me a nod to say he’s fine.” He’s a tough guy.”
Ja'Marr Chase in the locker room said he went over to talk to Joe Burrow when he went down on the field.
"We always give each other that nod … He gave me a nod he's all right. He's a strong dude."
