Travis Barker Early Life

Travis Landon Barker was born on November 14, 1975, in Fontana, California, and became known professionally as Travis Barker. In his childhood, he lived with his mother Gloria (who worked as a babysitter), father Randy (a mechanic), and two elder sisters.

His mother handed him a drum kit when he was four years old, and he started taking lessons the following year. Travis also studied the trumpet in junior high school, and he also learned to play the piano and sang in a choir for a short period of time.

He pondered pursuing a career as a professional surfer or skater, but he ultimately decided that playing the drums was the most effective way to express himself. Unfortunately, Barker’s mother passed away from Sjögren syndrome just a few days before his first day of high school.

Travis was a self-described stoner while attending Fontana High School, where he also participated in the marching band and jazz group.

Travis Barker Career

Barker worked as a trash collector after graduating from high school until he was offered a spot in the punk band The Aquabats for a brief period of time. In 1997, he collaborated with The Aquabats to record his debut album.

During the summer of 1998, Barker was hired to fill in on the drums for the punk rock band Blink-182. This was the beginning of his professional career. His ability to play the drums was demonstrated when he not only learned the drum tracks for 20 songs in 45 minutes but also performed the tracks with total perfection and poise on stage.

His work with Blink-182 was not his only musical endeavor; he also recorded recordings for Transplants, a rap/rock band. Aside from these projects, he has also contributed to Dave Carlock’s band, The Distillers, and has appeared in one of Puff Daddy’s music videos, “Bad Boy for Life.”

Blink-182 began development on their next studio album in 2003, and it was released in 2004. It’s interesting to note that they eschewed the traditional recording method and instead converted their home into a recording studio. After months of hard labor, they finally published their fifth studio album, ‘Blink-182’, which was self-titled.

The album’s two singles, ‘Feeling This’ and ‘I Miss You,’ both reached the top of the Billboard charts. The band finally disbanded in 2005, announcing an ‘indefinite hiatus’ from music.

He also has a clothing and accessory firm, ‘Famous Stars and Straps,’ his own recording company, ‘LaSalle Records,’ and an establishment in California called ‘Wahoo’s Fish Taco.’ In addition to his musical ambitions, he has a restaurant in California called ‘Wahoo’s Fish Taco.
