Shia Labeouf Early Life
Shia Saide LaBeouf was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 11, 1986. Shayna, his mother, was a ballerina who later went on to become a great artist and jewelry designer.
Jeffrey, his father, was a Vietnam War veteran who hopped around from job to job. His mother is Jewish, and his father is of French Cajun ancestry. LaBeouf claims to be Jewish.
His first name is Szaja, a Polish translation of the Hebrew Yeshayahu (Isaiah), which means “God is salvation,” and his middle name is his mother’s maiden name. LaBeouf’s parents have been described as hippies.
LaBeouf’s father was a drug addict who abused him. After his parents divorced, LaBeouf grew up with his mother in Los Angeles’ Echo Park area.
He formally attended Los Angeles’ 32nd Street Visual and Performing Arts Magnet and Alexander Hamilton High School, yet he acquired the majority of his schooling from on-set tutors.
When he was ten years old, LaBeouf started performing stand-up at comedy clubs. In the first phone call, he pretended to be his own manager and found an agency through the Yellow Pages.
LaBeouf became an actor when his family was in financial trouble, not because he wanted to be an actor. LaBeouf was cast as Louis Stevens in the Disney Channel sitcom “Even Stevens” shortly after getting an agent.

Shia LaBeouf made a series of unusual public appearances in February 2014. He once walked the red carpet wearing a paper bag over his face with the words “I am not famous anymore” written on it.
No one knew what his true goals were. Some suspected that it was a piece of performance art. These activities turned out to be a performance artwork conceived by LaBeouf, British artist, and novelist Luke Turner, and Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö as a meditation on celebrity and vulnerability.
LaBeouf, Rönkkö, and Turner have collaborated on a number of high-profile performance art projects since then, including #IAMSORRY (2014), and #ALLMYMOVIES (2015), #TOUCHMYSOUL (2015), #TAKEMEANYWHERE (2016), and HEWILLNOTDIVIDE.US (2017–present).
In the 2017 Swedish film “Borg vs McEnroe,” LaBeouf played legendary tennis player John McEnroe. In 2019, he starred in “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” a comedy-drama, and also authored and starred in “Honey Boy.”
