Marshawn Terrell Lynch was born on April 22, 1986, in Oakland, Calif. Maurice Sapp is his father, and Delisa Lynch is his mother. He and his three older siblings grew up in Oakland.
Lynch was raised by his mother, who once set an Oakland Technical High School record for the 200-meter track event. His father is in jail for 24 years for burglary. He has been in jail six times before, twice for serious crimes.
