Aisha Jumwa was born on March 28, 1975, in Takaungu village, Kilifi County, to Karisa Katana and Sidi Kazungu. They had more than one child at the time. His dad had six wives and a total of 28 kids.
She went to primary school at Takaungu. She then went to Ganze Secondary School, but had to quit in Form Two because she couldn’t pay her school fees.
She dropped out of school and got married when she was still young. But her marriage didn’t last very long. When she decided she wanted to work in politics, her husband tried to stop her. The two broke up because they didn’t agree on these things.

In 1997, when she was 22 years old and her father asked her to, she ran for Councilor for Takaungu Ward in the Kilifi County Council, which no longer exists. She won by a huge amount.
