Natalie Portman, real name Natalie Hershlag, is an Israeli-American actress born in Jerusalem on June 9, 1981. She is recognized for her aristocratic poise and delicacy in portraying the problems of complex precocious young women.
Natalie Hershlag was born in Jerusalem to an American mother and an Israeli father who subsequently became a fertility doctor. The family immigrated to the United States in 1984 and settled in Syosset, Long Island, New York. Predictably, a set of dumbbells appears to be the major secret behind all those arm muscles. “It was really fun. I worked with a trainer, Naomi Pendergast, for, I think it was, four months before shooting, and then obviously all the way through filming,” Portman said to Vanity Fair.
“We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes — heavyweight training that I haven’t ever done before. Of course, I’ve never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work” she said.
Portman, of course, is no stranger to experiencing a major physical makeover for a job. The actress lost 20 pounds in preparation for Thor by restricting her food and practicing for long amounts of time. Portman, on the other hand, had never done any strength training before meeting Thor. Portman prefers to keep in shape by going on lengthy runs a few times a week and practicing yoga on a regular basis, according to an interview with Women’s Health UK.
Portman also eats a vegan diet, proving that you don’t have to eat a lot of chicken to look like a superhero.
