Kathy Griffin is afraid that her voice may never be the same again because her vocal cords were hurt while she was fighting lung cancer. In August 2021, the 61-year-old comedian said that she had been diagnosed with the disease. In November, she said that she no longer had cancer.

And because the treatment made her voice higher than usual, Griffin is worried that what she was told would be a temporary problem may now be a permanent one.

After having surgery to remove half of her lung to treat her cancer, Kathy Griffin said she no longer has cancer. Griffin told the good news on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night. Griffin was told in August that he had Stage 1 lung cancer.

Griffin said that after surgery, she has a high-pitched voice that sounds like “Minnie Mouse meets Marilyn Monroe.” She told Kimmel, “I had surgery. You will not believe this… Even though I have never smoked, I have lung cancer. I really did have half of my left lung taken out in August.

She also said, “I don’t know why, I had a tumor, right? And I’ve never smoked, but it was there for 10 years.”

She also talked about a conversation she had with one of her doctors, during which he tried to make her laugh. “No joke, I walk in and he tells me how they take out half of your lung. “It’s kind of like a balloon,” he says. We use a laparoscope and poke at it. When we take it out, it sort of looks like a used condom.”

The comedian who won an Emmy for My Life on the D-List will have a recurring part on the fifth season of HBO Max’s Search Party.
