Christina Applegate First Public Appearance After MS Diagnosis: ‘i Love You All So Much’

Christina Applegate attended her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Monday, November 14, marking the Emmy winner’s first public appearance since revealing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in spring 2021.

Applegate was supposed to receive her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020, but the pandemic pushed the ceremony back. In 2021, she announced her MS diagnosis on Twitter while filming the third and final season of her Netflix comedy “Dead to Me.”

Prior to her appearance, her “Married… with Children” co-stars Katey Sagal and David Faustino honoured her at the Walk of Fame ceremony.

“You’re not alone,” Sagal choked up as she told Applegate. “Everyone is here.” Applegate’s “dead To Me” co-star Linda Cardellini and creator Liz Feldman were also in attendance.

Applegate took the stage at the Walk of Fame ceremony, aided by Sagal, who remained on stage with her throughout her speech. Applegate burst into tears while speaking about her daughter and thanking her for her support during her MS diagnosis.

“My daughter is the most important person in the world,” Applegate said. “You are so much more than you realize.” You are stunning, kind, intelligent, and fascinating. “Every day, I’m grateful that I get to wake up and drive you to school… thank you for sticking by me through it all.”

Applegate described her audience as “gorgeous.” “Every single one of you,” he added. “I adore [all of you].”

In an interview with Variety ahead of the Walk of Fame ceremony, Applegate stated that filming the final season of “Dead to Me” while battling MS was “as difficult as you could possibly imagine.” To get to set, the actor had to use a wheelchair.

“I was diagnosed while we were working,” said Applegate. “I Had To Call Everyone And Tell Them, ‘I Have Multiple Sclerosis Guys,'” she explains. “Wait, what the fuck!” And then it was all about learning—all of us learning—what I was going to be capable of.

“Dead To Me” Season 3 premieres on Netflix on November 17, and it will be Applegate’s first new project since her announcement about Ms. “People are going to see me for the first time as a disabled person, and it’s very difficult,” Applegate said of the show’s debut and her first public appearances, which will also include the “dead to Me” premiere on Nov. 15.

Last month, Applegate teased her public appearances in a viral Twitter post. The actress posted a picture of some canes she was thinking about bringing to red carpet events.

“This will be my first time out since being diagnosed with MS,” Applegate wrote at the time on Twitter. “Walking Sticks Have Become Part Of My New Normal.” Thank you, @neowalksticks, for these lovely creations. Keep an eye out to see who makes the cut for a week’s worth of stuff.”
