In this article, the author discusses the current state of Anthony Davis following his injury. The article includes a breakdown of what has happened to him, what is currently happening with his recovery, and how he could be expected to recover.

Anthony Davis, a versatile big man for the Los Angeles Lakers, got hurt again when his right foot hit the back of Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert’s foot. This caused Davis to land awkwardly on the foot with all his force, causing an inversion of the ankle that wasn’t for the faint of heart.

Based on how the injury happened and what other people said during the game, it seemed like this was a typical inversion ankle sprain, which stresses the lateral (outer) ligaments.

But after an MRI, the team says Davis has a mid-foot sprain, which is a much less common injury, and will be looked at again in four weeks. I thought the diagnosis was strange based on how the injury happened, so I did some research to learn more.

In the video below, I talk about what I found:

In short, this diagnosis means that Davis’s injury involves damage to a ligament or ligament in the middle of his foot (which sits between the rear and forefoot). It may or may not also hurt the ligaments on the side of the ankle.

In short, we don’t know how bad it is, but it could be worse than the ankle injury that was thought to be the case. Davis is likely to miss a lot of time.

Similar to what happened with Davis’s MCL injury, where he started doing more on the court before an official re-evaluation, we might see some signs with this injury, too. No matter what, it’s another injury that hurts the Lakers’ season, which is still being held back in many ways. I’ll let you know as soon as we find out more.
