God of War Ragnarok Release Date And Time

On November 9, 2022, God of War Ragnarok is scheduled to debut. A new CGI trailer released by Sony’s Santa Monica Studio revealed the release date and showed Kratos and Atreus battling a swarm of enemies before taking on the enormous wolf Fenrir.

Pre-orders for the game will start on July 15 according to a blog post published by Santa Monica Studio on July 6. The site also provides information on the many game editions that will be offered, including a collector’s edition that includes a 16-inch model of Thor’s hammer.

Fans have been waiting for news regarding the game’s arrival for months, so the announced release date is welcome news. God of War Ragnarok has been postponed to 2022, according to a statement made on September 9 during the Sony PlayStation Showcase by publisher PlayStation Studios and developer Sony Santa Monica.

Herman Hulst, the head of international studios at Sony Interactive Entertainment, spoke about the response during a Q&A session:
So, according to Hulst at the time, “we presently have two very sizable, extremely narrative-driven games in development: Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War.” “Truthfully, the availability of performance capture and skill has an impact on both of things. We believe we are on schedule to release Horizon during the holiday season. However, we’re making every effort to confirm it to you as quickly as we can even though it’s not yet certain.

“The project for God of War got underway a little later. To make sure Santa Monica Studio can deliver the incredible God of War game that we all want to play, we have decided to postpone that game until next year.

What Can We Expect With God Of War Ragnarok?

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Grace Orlady, the senior manager of Santa Monica Studio, has already given us some important hints about what to anticipate from the game when it releases.
We’re picking up a few years after the events of God of War, as you can see in the teaser” (2018). Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir will find it increasingly harder to survive in the harsh Norse landscapes now that Fimbulwinter has arrived in Midgard.

Even with the discovery of Atreus’ Giant ancestry and the secret prophesy that only Kratos saw, she continued: “While the last game developed an incredible amount of trust and understanding between father and son, there is still a great deal of complexity in their interactions.”

Two of the game’s key enemies were also shown in the God Of War: Ragnarok trailer. Freya, who supported Kratos in the last game, was the first.

We wanted to remind players that Freya is a formidable warrior in her own right in addition to being a terrifyingly powerful practitioner of Vanir magic. Freya will use every tool at her disposal to catch the person who killed her son after witnessing Kratos evade punishment through her hands.

Last but not least, it was revealed that there was another adversary to face: Thor. According to Mimir, who calls him the “Biggest Butchering Bastard in the Nine Realms,” Thor “earned his title as one of the most powerful Aesir gods by eradicating nearly all the Giants at Odin’s command.”
This time, the story will take place in the Nine Realms, so Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard will all be present. These three were left out of the last game.

When Kratos returns, he will also have a few new weapons at his disposal, including a selection of shields that can affect the god-abilities. slayer’s Director of Ragnarok Eric Williams stated in an interview with YouTuber Jon Ford that the sequel will contain “various shields, and they have distinct defensive options and powers” despite the fact that our hero could utilize the Guardian Shield in 2018’s God of War.

Williams continued, “The reason we’re taking this action is because we really want to give up the expressive option to the way that you design your Kratos, the gear and loadout, and stuff like that. All the way down to defense, so you can play a little bit differently, and opponents know how to react to that, forcing you into different circumstances where you need to employ other things.

New fighting information was revealed in a recent GI cover piece where devs gave the newspaper footage and information. One change is that the triangle button now summons tremendous powers instead than just the Leviathan Axe. Players can now press the triangle to activate Frost Awaken and Whiplash while holding the axe. As a result, the axe gains ice energy, and the Blades of Chaos gain fire energy. Then more harm can be inflicted.

God Of War Ragnarok Story

Here’s the official synopsis for God of War Ragnarok, which takes place a “few years” after God of War:

Fimbulwinter [the great winter] is well underway. Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a prophesied battle that will end the world. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarök [the final destruction of the world] grows ever closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the realms.

Santa Monica Studio has largely remained tight-lipped about story details, though director Eric Williams shared a new facet of the sequel will be Kratos grappling with the fact that his son is Loki, and that his wife withheld that information from him. Ragnarok, like its predecessor, will once again balance fantastical setpieces with smaller scale “slice-of-life” moments.

Returning characters include Kratos, Atreus, Freya, Mimir, Brok, and Sindri. New characters include Thor, the God of Thunder; Tyr, the Norse God of War; the dwarf Durlin; the giantess Angrboda; and Odin, chief of the Norse Gods. We also know players will be able to visit all nine realms in Ragnarok, compared to only six in God of War. The three previously unexplored realms are Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard.

Is God of War Ragnarok coming to the PlayStation 4?

God of War Ragnarok will be available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Herman Hulst explicitly mentioned the game in an interview, noting that multiple games (previously thought to be exclusive to the PlayStation 5) will also be available on the PS4.

“Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7,” Hulst said.

“And if PS4 owners want to play it, they can.” If they want to play the PS5 version, that game will be available.”

Both games are almost certainly going to be released at the same time; Sony has yet to release a first-party PS4/PS5 game that did not have a simultaneous release date on both platforms.

Will it be available on PC platforms?

One thing we don’t know about God of War Ragnarok is whether it will be released on PC. Sony has been releasing its first-party lineup on PC shortly after launch in recent years. God of War came to PC a few years after its initial release, so it’s possible we’ll see the same here.
