Gabbi Tuft was born Gabe Tuft in San Francisco, California, on November 1, 1978. She was up in Atlanta, Georgia, and was always interested in wrestling. She trained with Mike Bell and made her debut for Ultimate Pro Wrestling in 2007.

In 2008, she joined WWE and was assigned to the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) region as Tyler Reks. She won the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship twice, as well as the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship.
