The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived! Yellowstone’s Season 5 trailer was released this morning, and we are in stitches. This season is going DOWN, and we have a feeling viewers will be on the edge of their seats the entire time.

Trailer for Yellowstone Season 5

The first Season 5 footage was revealed in an ominous teaser trailer shown during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. “We’ll show the world who we are and what we do,” says John Dutton in a voiceover as images of the Duttons are shown. The trailer then teases that “all will be revealed” before revealing that the Nov. 13 premiere will be a two-hour affair.

Is there a release date for Yellowstone Season 5?

When Yellowstone premieres on the Paramount Network on Sunday, November 13, the Duttons will be back. Season 5 will air in two installments, according to the announcement made by the Paramount Network in mid-February!

Yellowstone Season 5 Cast

Season 5 will bring both familiar and new faces to the ranch. For the first time since Season 3, Josh Lucas will return as young John Dutton, and it appears that we’ll be doing a lot of flashbacks, as he’ll be joined by Kylie Rogers as young Beth and Kyle Red Silverstein as young Rip. Jacki Weaver also returns as Market Equities CEO Caroline Warner, the Duttons’ latest business foe, while Mo Brings Plenty and Wendy Moniz are promoted to series regulars as Thomas Rainwater’s (Gil Birmingham) right-hand man Mo and former governor Lynelle Perry, respectively.

Yellowstone will also welcome four new characters. Kai Caster will play Rowdy, a young cowboy. Lainey Wilson portrays Abby, a musician. Clara Brewer, a new assistant to one of the Duttons, will be played by Lilli Kai (we feel bad for her already). Dawn Olivieri from 1883 joins the cast as Sarah Atwood, a Montana newcomer and “corporate shark,” according to the character description.

Forrie J. Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, and Jen Landon as Teeter, who has been promoted to series regular, will also return.

Emily’s fiancée, Kathryn Kelly, has been promoted to series regular and will return alongside Jefferson White as Jimmy. That means, despite opting for the Four Sixes over Yellowstone, the reformed trouble magnet will be around in some capacity.

  • Kevin Costner as John Dutton
  • Kelly Reilly as Beth
  • Luke Grimes as Kayce
  • Wes Bentley as Jamie
  • Cole Hauser as Rip
  • Kelsey Asbille as Monica
  • Brecken Merrill as Tate
  • Finn Little as Carter
  • Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater

Yellowstone Prequels and Spin-Offs

Yellowstone is no longer alone in Taylor Sheridan’s world of ranchers. One prequel miniseries, 1883, aired late last year on Paramount+ and revealed the origin story of the Dutton family’s arrival in Montana. Elsa, the brave and adventurous adolescent sister of John Dutton’s grandfather, John Sr., was played by Isabel May, and her father, James, was played by Tim McGraw. David Oyelowo will play Reeves, the legendary first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi, in 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. He was a former slave who apprehended over 3,000 criminals.

In December, a second Yellowstone prequel, titled 1923, will pick up after 1883, with the Duttons’ next generation tending to their ranch in the aftermath of World War I and the beginning of Prohibition. That show will star Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton, Tim McGraw’s James Dutton’s brother and sister-in-law in 1883.

Sheridan is also working on a Yellowstone spin-off called 6666, which is set at the real historic Four Sixes ranch in Texas (which she owns) and tells the story of how the ranch continues to operate in the same way it did over a century ago. Along with the original show, the spin-off will air on Paramount Network.

Yellowstone star Kevin Costner stated on the 2022 Oscar Red Carpet that he has “no doubt there will be more spin-offs.” “I had no idea about the upcoming spin-offs,” he added. “I just do my thing, hit my marks, and think, ‘Wow, this thing is going really well.'” Everything is going swimmingly.

Yellowstone Seasons 1-4 are now available on Peacock. Season 5 will be broadcast on the Paramount Network.
