One of the most expected shows in 2022 is HBO’s iconic sci-fi series Westworld, which will make its long-awaited return.

Westworld is a futuristic tourist attraction populated by human-like androids called as “hosts” where high-paying customers can indulge in its deepest, darkest fantasies without fear of the repercussions, based on the 1973 film by future Jurassic Park writer Michael Crichton.

The show’s season 3, however, shifts the setting from the park to the real world while continuing to explore themes of ai technology and how we as humans allow robots to dominate our lives.

Since its debut in 2016, the program has gained critical and award acclaim, with Thandiwe Newton, one of its performers, receiving a Primetime Emmy for Supporting Role Best actress.

Now that the show is back after a two-year vacation in-between seasons, here’s everything we know about Westworld Season 4 so far, including who’s in the cast, when it’ll be released, and whether or not the program will be renewed beyond this season.

Westworld Season 4 Cast

Many additional actors from Season 3 are likely to return for this next season, such as Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, Luke Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Angela Sarafyan, and Aaron Paul, in addition to Newton.

Ariana DeBose, who starred in 2021’s West Side Story, will also appear in an unnamed guest role.

For those who are curious about how Wood’s character Delores is still alive despite the fact that all of her memories were erased at the conclusion of Westworld Season 3, co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan expanded on her shocking death in May 2020.

“I think it’s important with a show in which death can be impermanent — these are robots, after all — to mark the occasion with Dolores. That version of that character is gone. We love Evan Rachel Wood and we haven’t [sighs] started talking publicly about exactly what the show looks like going forward. But it looks very different.”

According to this statement, Delores in the Season 4 trailer is most likely the new variation of the character that fans have yet to meet, which explains why her hair is brown rather than blonde.

Season 4 will feature the performers in “several roles,” according to Nolan.

“From the beginning, part of the joy of the show has been that one performer can play multiple roles and that the tale transforms beneath them — shifts genres, shifts time.” The concept of agency has been one of the show’s central themes since its inception. The formal aspect of what a person appears to be against who they are on the inside is a very slippery and confusing topic in this world. That excites us, as does the challenge. Obviously, this is an incredible group, and part of the joy is giving them all something incredibly difficult to do. As a result, I believe we may expect to see any or all of these faces in a variety of situations and relationships.”

While the co-showrunner did not say which actors will play numerous parts in Season 4, this comment underscores that the Dolores featured in the Season 4 teaser is not the same Dolores fans have known for the previous three seasons.

Nolan could also be talking to Ed Harris’ William, who was killed off and substituted with a host version of his more evil identity, the Man in Black. Is this the same William that appeared in the Season 2 post-credits scene? We’ll simply have to wait to see what happens.

Westworld Season 4 synopsis

The fourth season is a “dark odyssey about the fate of conscious life on Earth,” according to the show’s description. An amusement park modeled after a romanticized image of the American Mafia in the 1930s has been confirmed for the series.

Westworld Season 4 Plot

It’s nearly impossible to predict what the plot of Westworld Season 4 will be at this stage. It’s pointless to try to forecast where the show’s current storylines will go when it returns because they’ve become so complicated. HBO hasn’t said much about Season 4 of Westworld, other than that it will be a “dark journey concerning the fate of sentient life on Earth.”

Only time will tell if the show will carry through on some of the catastrophic hints that were strewn across Westworld’s Season 3 conclusion.
