A new American comedy-horror television series called Wednesday will be based on the Addams Family character Wednesday. Jenna Ortega plays the title character in this Tim Burton, Miles Millar, and Alfred Gough production, which also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Gwendoline Christie in supporting roles. On November 23, 2022, the TV series is scheduled to make its Netflix debut.

The new series’ creators, Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, hinted at its independence in an interview with Vanity Fair “It doesn’t try to be like the movies or the 1960s TV program. Both Tim and I thought that was extremely important.”

Additionally, Wednesday’s personality has changed a bit. She’s not a little kid anymore, even though she’s still eminently morbid and pessimistic. According to Gough, “Wednesday’s relationship with Morticia is really the relationship that kind of hangs over the season.” “How do you emerge from Morticia’s glamorous mother’s shadow?”

Wednesday Cast & Crew

Fred Armisen, a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, will play Uncle Fester. Tamara Novak, Wednesday’s dorm mother, was originally to be played by Thora Birch (Hocus Pocus), but she had to leave the show in December 2021. Thora has returned to the United States to handle a personal matter and won’t be joining the production, a representative for MGM Television, the show’s producer, said in a statement to Deadline.

Wednesday and Christina Ricci’s return to The Addams Family franchise were both officially announced for March 2022. According to Deadline, Christina is not portraying a previous incarnation of Wednesday but rather a brand-new character.
