Stranger Things was never intended to last indefinitely. Stranger Things’ original concept was barely meant to last past its first season. But that was before Netflix and series creators The Duffer Brothers saw the show’s fantastic cast and the enthusiastic response from viewers. Nonetheless, the end is rapidly approaching.
Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 is now available on Netflix, with seven episodes. Following that, only two episodes from Season 4 Volume 2 and a fifth season are planned. In an open letter to fans prior to the premiere of Season 4, Matt and Ross Duffer explained their reasoning.
Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 Release Date
Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 will premiere on Netflix on Friday, July 1 with only two episodes. New Netflix series are typically released at 3:01 a.m. ET/12:01 a.m. PT. Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 will be no exception.
Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 Episode Lengths
This could be a first for Den of Geek. Or, at the very least, it’s a first for me. I don’t recall ever typing “Episode Lengths” in a subhead before, but it’s actually justified in this case! “Why should I care how long an episode of something is?” you may wonder. In this case, you might want to know because it could have a significant impact on your streaming plans. The following are the episode lengths:
- Stranger Things season 4 episode 8 – 1 hour, 25 minutes
- Stranger Things season 4 episode 9 – 2 hours, 30 minutes
Stranger Things season 4 vol 2 cast: Who will be in it?
As things stand, all of the major players are expected to continue their efforts to stop Vecna and permanently close the Upside Down.
Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will), and Sadie Sink are among the cast members (Max).
Thankfully, their characters will have some help in the form of Robin (Maya Hawke), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Argyle (Eduardo Franco) and Eddie are newcomers (Joseph Quinn).
As for the adults, Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder) are reunited thanks to Murray’s assistance (Brett Gelman). All they have to do now is return to the United States safely.
But, as with all good guys, there are bad guys, and they don’t get much worse than Jamie Campbell Bower, aka 001, aka Vecna. The ostensibly powerful ward guard is actually deeply bonded to Eleven, albeit with far more violent tendencies. He now preys on those who have experienced trauma and guilt in the past, shattering their bones every time.
So far, the only person who has escaped his clutches is Max (thanks to Kate Bush, of course), but we’re interested to see how this unfolds.

Stranger Things season 4 vol 2 plot: What will happen?
The final two episodes of the season will most likely see the gang band together to take down the terrifying being known as Vecna – especially now that they know his true identity.
During the ‘Massacre at Hawkins Lab,’ Vecna revealed himself to be 001 – the lab’s first superpowered child.
001 had been chipped and experimented on, with his blood later used to breed a slew of children with special abilities… including Eleven.
He is also, unfortunately, highly narcissistic, believing that his power proves he is superior to the average human. After eliminating all of the patients and doctors on the ward, he found himself sparing Eleven, with whom he’d developed a bond during his time in the lab. But she refused to assist him in taking over humanity, instead of overpowering him and sending him to the Upside Down before fleeing. So, to be clear, Vecna has some unfinished business, and it must begin with Elle.
Other than that, having the fate of the world in their hands doesn’t stop these hormone-ridden teenagers from falling in and out of love. Nancy is clearly second-guessing her decision to choose Jonathan over Steve, and Steve is still holding a candle for his previous fling.
Mike and Eleven are struggling to make the long-distance thing work, especially given their age, and it’s made even more difficult by Will’s growing confusion and frustration with his own feelings.
The mid-season finale definitely set in motion plans to bring the entire gang back together to fight this year’s Big Bad. Joyce, Hopper, and Murray are on their way back from Russia, Eleven is still in the lab, but the rest of the crew is either back in Hawkins or on their way.
They are, however, wanted people, particularly Eddie, who has become the target of a witchhunt by jocks who believe he founded The Hellfire Club as a satanic cult and is thus responsible for the otherwise unexplainable deaths.
