The Morning Show on Apple TV+ has added another big name to its third season cast. Stephen Fry (The Sandman, The Dropout) will have a major recurring role, along with Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm, who will be regulars in the show. as well as Tig Notaro, another new recurring player, and Julianna Margulies, who signed a deal to play her recurring role from Season 2 again.
Fry will play Leonard Cromwell, a ruthless UBA board member who is trying to steer the company through troubled financial waters. The third season of a show that Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon star in and that is produced by Media Res is currently being made.
The Morning Show focuses on the group that puts together the network’s morning show and shows how their jobs and personal lives affect each other. In Season 2, the team was picking up the pieces after the actions of hosts Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon). They found themselves with a new UBA and a world in flux, where identity is everything and the gap between who we appear to be and who we really are is important.
In Season 2, the cast also included Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin, and Marcia Gay Harden, in addition to Aniston and Witherspoon.
Charlotte Stoudt has a multi-year deal with Apple TV+ that makes her the executive producer and showrunner for Season 3. Michael Ellenberg is an executive producer for Media Res, Jennifer Aniston and Kristin Hahn are for Echo Films, and Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are for Hello Sunshine. Mimi Leder is the director and executive producer.
Recently, The Morning Show was nominated for three Emmys. Witherspoon was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama, Crudup for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama, and Harden for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama. In 2020, Crudup got an Emmy.
Fry is a veteran British comedy and drama actor who is currently in both The Dropout on Hulu and The Sandman on Netflix. He also does the voice of the Headmaster in the popular Netflix show Heartstopper. Both CAA and Hamilton Hodell represent Fry.
