Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 1 Review

Season 2 of Shield Hero will deliver everything that the first season did, and nothing else. If you enjoyed Season 1 of this show, you will enjoy Season 2. All of our favourite characters are back, and they’re doing exactly what they’re known for doing best: being themselves. The characters we didn’t care for are just as hateful and useless as the ones we did like, and they have no intention of changing anytime soon. As a spectator, you were well aware of what you were in for when you turned on the television to watch this episode, and this programme did not let you down in any way.

This season will be more focused on Rishia and her connection with Itsuki, the Bow Hero, than previous seasons. She has a rather clear and defined route ahead of her, one that will see her become stronger with the assistance of Naofumi and ultimately result in her showing up Itsuki in some way. Raphtalia and Filo were also present, worried for her well-being and being just as pleasant and enthusiastic about everything as they had always been about their work. It was wonderful to see them back on our screens, and we’ll have more time to discuss about their relationship with Naofumi and their development as characters if and when we see any progress in this season, which is likely.

Naofumi has been an extraordinarily well-written character from the beginning, and he has had a significant role in the show’s overall quality and popularity. Many people have had a close connection to his difficulties and victories because of them. Seeing him for the first time in this episode felt like meeting up with an old friend all over again, which was exactly what happened. However, while this will become increasingly clear as the series progresses, there isn’t much more for our old friend to do in the episode that is really engaging.

A new challenge was presented to our four cardinal heroes in this episode, one that was distinct from their current goal of battling the waves, as seen in the previous episode. Naturally, you can already guess what each of the heroes’ reactions were, and it goes without saying that Haime was left to handle everything on his own as well. This has been a problem with the series almost from the start of the first season. No one else, with the exception of Hajime’s group, is even the tiniest bit competent in any way. This is going to be even more difficult to deal with now that the revenge narrative has been completed and is no longer in play.

The production value in Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 1 was excellent, but there isn’t much else to say about it other than that it was well done. The animation was of outstanding quality, and the characters appear to be exactly as colourful as they always have. This OST is a little different, yet it still sounds current and generic. Watching this episode felt like a trip down memory lane, as if we had been whisked back to 2019 and were experiencing the programme for the first time all over again. While this is excellent news and exactly what viewers had hoped for from the show, it also indicates that the show hasn’t addressed any of the issues that were initially identified. Only time will tell if the show has become any worse, but it is undeniably not getting any better right now.
