Resident Evil: Netflix Release Date Confirmed And Coming In July 2022

The upcoming Netflix Original series Resident Evil is based on the Capcom game of the same name. Since its inception in 1996, the franchise has spawned numerous video game sequels, novels, and a popular film franchise.

Netflix appears to be going all-in on Resident Evil with this live-action series as well as at least two animated projects, the first of which was Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, which was released in July 2021 on Netflix.

Resident Evil will be available on Netflix.

When is the release date for the Resident Evil TV show?

Netflix has confirmed that the Resident Evil series will be available on the platform on July 14, 2022. If the Netflix binge model is followed, all episodes should be available on this date.

While Netflix initially announced the Resident Evil show would premiere in the summer of 2020, delays caused by Covid meant that filming did not begin until much later than expected.

What’s the plot of the new Resident Evil TV show?

The new show will follow the exploits of the two Wesker children in two time periods. Netflix confirmed the following story arcs in an official announcement:

‘In the first timeline, Jade and Billie Wesker, fourteen-year-old sisters, are relocated to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town thrust upon them at the height of adolescence. However, the more time they spend there, the more they realize that the town is more than it appears and that their father may be hiding dark secrets. ‘Secrets that have the potential to destroy the world.’ Cut to the second timeline, more than a decade later: there are only about fifteen million people left on Earth. And over six billion monsters – T-virus-infected humans and animals. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World while her past secrets – about her sister, her father, and herself – haunt her.’

Albert Wesker, the Resident Evil series’ perennial villain who has been a part of the world since the first game, is their father. We don’t know what happens to Billie along the way, but we know teeth and mutation will play a role.

What we know about the Resident Evil cast and crew

“Resident Evil” is currently in an unusual position. It’s already been revealed that Lance Reddick will play Albert Wesker — an excellent choice in my opinion. While the rest of the main cast has been announced, we still don’t know who they’ll be playing. Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nunez, Ahad Raza Mir, Turlough Convery, and Connor Gossatti round out the cast of “Resident Evil.”

It is currently unknown who will play Jade Wesker, but my money is on Ella Balinska. She’s already known for her work on the 2019 “Charlie’s Angels” reboot starring Kristen Stewart and Naomi Scott, and she’s more than capable of carrying an eight-episode series like “Resident Evil.”

“Supernatural” editor and producer Andrew Dabb will serve as showrunner, executive producer, and writer for “Resident Evil.” As executive producer, he is joined by Robert Kulzer, Oliver Berben, and Mary Leah Sutton, while Constantin Film (which produced the “Resident Evil” films) brings its CEO Martin Moszkowicz on board as producer.
