Resident Evil Has Already Been Cancelled On Netflix

Resident Evil Has Already Been

A little more than a month after its premiere, Netflix’s Resident Evil series has been terminated, according to a report from Deadline. Due to the show’s underwhelming ratings and viewership, the streamer apparently chose not to renew it.

Netflix’s live-action Resident Evil series makes an effort to give the video game franchise it is based on yet another twist, similar to the several other Resident Evil adaptations. The Umbrella CEO Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick) and his two children are at the center of the drama, which was created by Andrew Dabb of Supernatural (played by Tamara Smart and Siena Agudong).

Resident Evil  Infinite Darkness is a four-part animated series that Netflix has available in addition to its live-action remake. The series, which prominently emphasizes the Resident Evil franchise’s backstory, has received mixed reviews. Netflix has numerous other video game adaptations planned, including ones for Horizon Zero Dawn, Tomb Raider, Far Cry, and Bioshock, even if its live-action Resident Evil wasn’t nearly the blockbuster it had hoped. Netflix already has a Castlevania-based anime, and a Tekken anime has made its debut.

My colleague Charles Pulliam-Moore says in our review of the series that it “keeps things seeming new up to a point,” but is eventually let down by a formulaic plot that suffers from being such a late arrival in the contemporary zombie mania. The week it aired and the two weeks that followed, Resident Evil cracked Netflix’s top 10 list of its most watched series, but it mainly disappeared after that. It also didn’t help that Stranger Things’ season four launch, which might have taken some of Resident Evil’s attention, happened so soon after its premiere.

For the sake of chronology, we advise playing the Resident Evil 3 remake’s first half, up until the hospital scene where Carlos, an employee of the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service, is present. You’ll be playing as Jill Valentine up to that time as she explores a zombie-infested Raccoon City.
