After a two-year run, the second season of the popular Isekai anime “Re:Zero — Starting Life in Another World” finally came to a close this past March, concluding its adaptation of the fourth arc of the original light novel series. “Re: Zero” was originally written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shin’ichiro Tsuka, and it was first made available on the internet in 2012. Soon after, a manga adaptation was released, which was followed by a well-known anime adaptation the following year.
The series follows a formula that is similar to that of many other Isekai anime. Subaru Natsuki, a teenage shut-in, finds himself unexpectedly and inexplicably transported to an alternate fantasy world in the course of the story (via Anime News Network). When Subaru discovers that he has also been granted a special ability, this otherwise ordinary Isekai beginning is turned upside down. Return by Death is a power that, when activated, allows Subaru to return to a previous, randomly determined point in time. It works in a similar way to how checkpoints work in a video game. The overall average Subaru is able to overcome conflict through repetition and planning as a result of this ability.
Following the recent conclusion of the anime’s second season, fans are wondering if the show will continue its adaptation of the novels in the future. Because the manga had a four-year head start on the anime, much of the novel’s plot has yet to be adapted for the screen. So, with that in mind, here’s what we know so far about the third season of “Re:Zero.”
At this time, there has been no official announcement regarding the release of “Re:Zero” Season 3 on DVD or streaming services. The previous season, which was released in two parts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had been delayed as a result of the pandemic. This makes predicting when White Fox, the anime’s producers, will return to their adaptation of the series difficult at this point in time. The Cinemaholic and other sources predict a release date as late as 2025, but this is purely speculation at this point.
However, Sho Tanaka, one of the series’ producers, has hinted at the possibility of a Season 3 in a 2020 interview with Crunchyroll, saying, “It’s possible that there will be a Season 3.” “After you’ve finished watching this season, I’m confident that you’ll all be clamoring for a third season. Please keep an eye out for it.” Fans of the popular Isekai anime series “Re:Zero” can rest easy knowing that a third season of the popular Isekai anime series is a strong possibility.
Re:Zero Season 3 Cast
Considering the likelihood that “Re:Zero” Season 3 will be released, it is likely that the show will retain a significant portion of its original cast. Subaru is voiced in Japanese by Yûsuke Kobayashi, according to the Internet Movie Database (“Dr. Stone,” “Food Wars”). Sean Chiplock provides the English voice for him (“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” “Pokemon: Detective Pikachu”).
Furthermore, it is expected that the original voice actors for the supporting cast will make a return to the show. Emilia (Rie Takahashi/Kayli Mills), Ram (Rie Murakawa/Ryan Bartley), and Rem (Inori Minase/Brianna Knickerbocker) are among the characters featured.
Fans can expect to hear some new voices as the series introduces new characters in Season 3, despite the fact that it is unlikely that the cast or crew of “Re:Zero” will undergo any drastic changes. Unfortunately, no official announcements have been made regarding the Season 3 cast thus far. In this case, fans will have to wait and see if “Re:Zero” will make any changes to its cast in the future.
Re:Zero Season 3 Plot
Given that Season 2 of “Re:Zero” only covered up to “Arc 4” of the original light novels, there is still plenty of “Re:Zero” left for White Fox to adapt into a television series (via Re:Zero Wiki). Subaru and Emilia were the focus of the most recent story arc, which followed them as they attempted to rescue the residents of Sanctuary, who were trapped by a mysterious magical barrier.
Following Subaru and his allies, as they fight to unite the Royal Electoral Camps in Watergate City in order to defeat the Witch Cultists who have taken control, the anime’s storey will pick up in “Arc 5,” where the anime’s story is set to pick up. At this point, it is unclear whether the anime will adapt only to this particular arc or whether it will continue even further into the series.
Season 3 will, however, include many of the story elements that have come to define “Re:Zero,” and fans can look forward to that. In other words, “Re:Zero” will continue its long-standing tradition of brutality and psychological torture, as Subaru’s ability to return from the dead has consistently proven to be both a blessing and a curse throughout the series. The show’s (hopefully) upcoming release will most likely be the source of any additional information.
