Season three of Power Book 2: Ghost has been given the green light, which is great news for fans of the series. And it has already undergone a significant transformation. ‘Empire’ showrunner Courtney Kemp has resigned from her position, and Brett Mahoney (Empire) will take over for the upcoming season of the Starz series.
After signing a four-year deal with Netflix to produce content for worldwide streaming last year, Kemp will continue to be involved as an executive producer, but he will be moving on to new pastures in the near future.
‘The continued success and cultural reaction of the Power universe is unprecedented,’ said Jeffrey Hirsch, President, and CEO of Starz. “Fans are clearly hungry for more Power Book II: Ghost,’ he added.
“We’re looking forward to the third season of the star-studded series, which will begin production early next year, just in time for the release of Power Book IV: Force, the fourth installment in the rapidly expanding franchise,” says the studio.
Here’s everything you need to know about Power Book 2: Ghost season three, which will premiere in 2022 and will be directed by David Lynch.

Power Book 2 Season 3 Cast
Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr), the son of James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick and Tasha Green-St Patrick, is the focus of the show, so we can expect him to return alongside the rest of the cast, which includes:
- Mary J. Blige in the role of Monet.
- Berto Colon in the role of Lorenzo Tejada
- Dru Tajada is played by Lovell Adams-Gray.
- Woody McClain in the role of Cane Tejada.
- LaToya Tondeo in the role of Diana Tejada.
- Gianni Paolo in the role of Brayden Weston.
- Cliff “Method Man” Smith in the role of David Maclean.
- Shane Johnson in the role of Cooper Saxe.
- Redman in the role of Theo Rollins.
The deaths of popular characters Professor Carrie Milgram (Melanie Liburd), her high-school lover Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Cross (Daniel Bellomy), and Daniel Sunjata’s Mecca/Danté Spears occurred during season two. However, this does not rule out the possibility of them appearing on the show as ghosts in the future.
It has also been revealed that Keesha Sharp, who starred in Lethal Weapon, will be appearing in season three as a recurring character with a significant role. Sharp will portray Professor Harper Bonet, “a progressive intellectual and boho beauty,” according to the press release (via Deadline). As production progresses, we can expect to hear about more cast members being announced.
Power Book 2 Season 3 Plot
It is almost certain that Monet will discover that her husband, Lorenzo Tejada (Berto Colon), murdered her son Zeke in a case of mistaken identity following the season two finale’s explosive conclusion.
After getting away with the murder of Professor Jabari Reynold number (Justin McManus), Tariq, who had originally intended to leave the drug business, has decided to stay and take over as the new connect now that Mecca has been eliminated from the picture. On the other hand, Brayden, who saved Tariq from a life in prison after confessing to being the student who sold drugs on campus and exposing himself as the CEO of their drug peddling app Course Correct, betrayed him when he set up Tariq’s college girlfriend Lauren, whose body was discovered after a car accident, as the victim of the drug peddling app Course Correct.
The season finale also saw the return of NYPD detective Blanca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen), who was revealed to be the officer assigned to confidential informant Mecca in the previous season. Blanca’s return, accompanied by a grainy photograph of Tariq, is certain to cause significant problems for Tariq as she investigates Mecca’s shooting.
Moreover, Cooper Saxe (Paton Ashbrook) will join forces with Prosecutor Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) in Season Three in order to provide information about Davis MacLean’s shady legal representation. In the meantime, MacLean is attempting to have his brother Theo Rollins released from prison after being wrongfully convicted of a murder he did not commit.
