Outer Banks, an American drama mystery, was a great sensation on Netflix when the first season released last year, and it immediately rose to the top of Netflix’s US charts when Season 2 aired in July 2021. As per Nielsen’s analysis of viewership from August 9 to August 15, the show’s sophomore season was the most seen, with 1,160 million views; now, fans are asking if the streaming giant has plans to bring more episodes in the near future.
Outer Banks is takes place in the fictional near the coast town in North Carolina with a striking cultural divide between rich and powerful seasonal residents and operating locals (dubbed “Kooks” and “Pogues,” respectively), and continues to follow a gathering of Pogue teens on a journey to find the legendary treasure linked to John B’s missing father.
Outer Banks Season 3: Renewal Status ‘Renewed’
(Last updated: November 2021): It has been speculated that the series has been canceled and has gone viral on Facebook, although it has not been officially confirmed what the future holds for Outer Banks. According to the post, “Outer Banks is officially canceled by Netflix after season 2.” According to Netflix, the second season did not receive the response that they had hoped for.

Netflix has officially renewed the third season of the coming-of-age mystery series “Outer Banks,” which is set on the same-named islands off the coasts of North Carolina and the Bahamas. The show’s creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, will all return as showrunners and executive producers.
Season 3 Outer Banks Production Status
Outer Banks, a much-anticipated Netflix show, is now wrapping up filming and is scheduled to be completed on August 19, 2022. The subject of whether the series would be renewed was addressed previously. One of the stars confirmed that they, too, are still in the fog.
It should be noted that the series is mostly set in North Carolina, but filming is also taking place in South Carolina. This is due to the fact that different locations carry Netflix’s first resistance to the restroom bill.
Outer Banks apparently has an episode budget of around $5 million per episode. Valerie Weiss confirmed on Instagram on February 14th 2022 that filming began on February 15th, along with a post captioned:
“Big love to my @obx family as Season 3 begins tomorrow!!! See you soon!”
Valerie Weiss has been confirmed as the director of multiple episodes of Outer Banks season 3, including one shot overnight in early August 2022. There has also been a slew of posts from cast members on the set. We will keep you updated during the production with all behind-the-scenes developments.
There are also a bevvy of Id cast members on the show. Netflix announced on February 28th that the items are still in production, along with the most recent cast photos. The series had been under production for more than a week at that point.
Outer Banks Season 3 Expected Release Date
Following many rumors, the third season will be released in December 2022. A huge thanks to the production timetable with past seasons, we can also start to speculate when the next season will arrive.
The series’ second season was shot between August 2020 and April 2021, and was released four months later, at the end of July 2021. It is a similar plan, with no such delays or complications with the shooting schedule, and there is a probability that we may see season 3 on Netflix in December 2022. In the worst-case scenario, it will arrive in February 2023.
