“Legendary” is a streaming tv show about a voguing reality competition in the United States. On the 27th of May, 2020, it was first aired on HBO Max. The show follows members of the LGBT community from eight different households as they compete in a series of balls (dancing, voguing, and walking activities) for a reward of $100,000. Thus, GLAAD praised the series for showcasing gay and trans performers “from the New York ballroom scene.”
HBO Max renewed the show for a second season in July 2020. May 6, 2021, was revealed as the date for the second season’s launch by HBO Max on April 17, 2021.
Legendary, HBO Max’s ballroom competition series, returns for a third season with some new twists. The program puts ballroom houses against one other in a series of weekly competitions, culminating in a $100,000 grand prize for the winner. The show has gained a reputation for panel drama as well as outrageous vogue performances. It’s time for that panel to undergo a makeover.
There’s no word yet on what will happen to presenter Dashaun Wesley or judges Jameela Jamil, Law Roach, and Leiomy Maldonado, but Megan Thee Stallion seems to be leaving the program. With Keke Palmer’s debut in the new trailer, she takes her position as the multi-hyphenate, always booked actress. We’re assuming that Megan’s decision to leave the program is based on the fact that her career has skyrocketed since the show started, and she can now perform live again.
Legendary Season 3 Release Date: Renewal confirm!
HBO Max announced in June 2021 that the show has been renewed for a third season.
Legendary Season 3 will air on 19 May 2022.
Who are the guest judges in Legendary Season 3?
Every episode of Legendary has a guest judge, following the time-honored tradition of competition programs. This year’s teaser included quite a few, with others reported on social media and many more verified to EW by the film’s cast and crew. We’re talking about the likes of Issa Rae and Leslie Jones as well as Bob the Drag Queen. Domninique Jackson, Pose’s magnificent Elektra and part of the award-nominated Legendary season 1 battle, is also returning.
Though the names of the homes competing for $100,000 have not yet been revealed, there are a few notables in the video that we cannot overlook. Aja from RuPaul’s Drag Race is our first stop. For those who haven’t been paying attention, Aja has been participating in the ballroom scene with the House of LaBeija for the last year or so, walking the runway and performing in various categories. Her distinct voice may be heard stating, “I want to win!” in the trailer.
What are the houses in the third season of Legendary?
The episode also includes Jelani LaBeija, who is featured. Since then, we haven’t seen Jelani, who appeared on the My House docuseries, in our Pride Issue.
Lolita Balenciaga is also mentioned. When Lolita appeared as a “villain” in season two and dragged Mikayla Lanvin by her cape in a runway battle, she was a scene-stealer. We don’t expect the house of Balenciaga, which participated in Season 2, to be back. The House of Juicy Couture from the ballroom’s kiki scene has also been seen with Brooklyn Miyake-Mugler and Kimayah in velour tracksuits. The House of Alpha Omega is the final one we’re sure about. Renaldo Alpha Omega, a major dancer with Alvin Ailey and one of the house’s dads, appears in the trailer’s opening scene. Also in this video is a performance by one of this writer’s favorite butch queen fem artists, Adam Omega.
It’s going to be a busy season, so keep an eye out.
