On September 28, 2021, NBC broadcast the first episode of the science-fiction drama series La Brea. David Appelbaum is the show’s creator and executive producer, with Keshet Studios and Universal Television producing the series. Critics gave the series a mixed reception.
Hundreds of people, automobiles, and buildings (including the Petersen Automotive Museum) are sucked into a giant sinkhole that opens up in the heart of Los Angeles at the La Brea Tar Pits and Wilshire Boulevard. Surviving in this mysterious and dangerous ancient land will require the survivors to work together as a team. One family (father, mother, son, and daughter) is the focus of the episode as they strive to reconcile after being separated by the events of the series. The father sees glimpses of his wife and son in his visions. The US Department of Homeland Security is studying a similar incident in the Mojave Desert because of the sinkhole and the abrupt presence of the Teratornis. After several episodes, the team realizes that the sinkholes act as a temporary gateway to the same site 10,000 years ago. The survivors are still trying to find a way back through the portal before it closes.
Recap for season first of La Brea:
La Brea’s first season ends on a number of cliffhangers that may have a huge impact on the second season. Josh, Riley, and Lily were last seen together at this time last year. Unfortunately, Gavin and Izzy have found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time after diving into a Seattle sinkhole in search of missing family members.
We learned that Isaiah’s real name is Gavin this season, which has a key connection to the visions Gavin sees throughout the series.

In season first, there were ten episodes, but as there is no formal declaration on the duration of Season 2, it is likely to be similar to the first season, but not exactly the same. (In other words, this is never going to be a show with a 20-episode season.)
