This Halloween, there are so many great horror movies from 2022 that are coming out on Blu-ray. This includes the movies Bodies Bodies Bodies, Orphan: First Kill, and Watcher. Now, genre fans can add Jordan Peele‘s Nope to that list. On October 25, the alien blockbuster will be available on 4K and Blu-ray with a lot of scary extras. On September 20, you will also be able to buy it digitally.
As for extras, the physical release will come with an exclusive documentary called “The Making of Nope,” which will explain what the movie is about, show deleted scenes, and more. When Nope came out in July, both critics and horror fans fell in love with it right away. This is because, in addition to being an interesting love letter to the classic American UFO story, Peele made this movie an interesting look at family.
The relationships that tie us to the Earth and how far we’ll go to find the “truth” for the people we love. Like how Jaws made you afraid of the water, Nope makes you afraid of the sky. The only difference is that you can’t get away from what’s up there.
But despite having a big, Jaws-like scope and an alien premise, Nope was a grounded masterpiece because OJ and Emerald, played by Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, were real siblings. Their emotional connection takes this movie’s small-scale horror and wondrously intense charm to a whole new level.
Whether it’s the complicated themes that will be talked about for years to come, Peele’s dark direction that makes you feel scared to even in the middle of the day, or the UFO itself, this movie reminds us why this medium and the cinematic experience, in general, are so important. Like, Get Out and Us before it, Nope is an amazing mix of humor, atmosphere, and real heart, but it is also a completely different, brutal animal.
So far, Peele’s three movies have put him at the top of the list of the best genre writers working today. The way he tells scary stories is so human and relatable, and Nope has shown that there is no one else like him in the modern horror film world.
Most horror fans agree on this since the movie made over $160 million around the world. Peele has helped bring back the “event” horror movie, which you have to see in a theatre to fully appreciate.
Nope is still playing in theatres, but if you can wait, you can watch it digitally on September 20. Then, on October 25, you can get it on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray.
