This week, Ryan Murphy’s Jeffrey Dahmer series “Monster” dominated the Netflix top 10 rankings, taking the top spot with 196.2 million hours viewed since its Sept. 21 premiere. The 10-episode limited series knocked “Cobra Kai” Season 5 off its pedestal and down to third place during the September 19-September 25 viewing window.

“Fate: The Winx Saga” Season 2 remained at No. 2 for the second week. The second installment of the fantasy series, which debuted on the streaming service on September 16, received nearly 61 million hours of viewing in its first full week. During its second full week on Netflix, the fifth season of “Cobra Kai” saw a drop in viewership. The show received 38.1 million hours of viewing time, a significant decrease from the previous week’s 95.6 million hours. Meanwhile, “The Crown” maintains its position in the Top 10 following Queen Elizabeth II’s death. What is the plot of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story?

This limited series will tell the story of the legendary serial killer through the eyes of his many victims. Dahmer’s childhood and home life will also be explored in the show, as he was only a teenager when he began to engage in questionable behavior and interests. One of Dahmer’s victims, Konerak Sinthasomphone, fled and went to the police to report that his life was in danger, only to be returned to Dahmer’s doorstep by cops who dismissed the argument as a “lover’s dispute.” The victim, who was only 14 at the time, was discovered inside Dahmer’s refrigerator and died less than an hour after cops dropped him off with his murderer.

After Dahmer was sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms without parole in 1992, the account of the police mismanagement of the incident became well known; thus, this limited series would most likely focus on this specific victim and his family. They would have discovered Dahmer was a sex offender with a child molestation charge dating back to 1988, when the victim was Konerak’s older brother, who was 13 at the time if they had done a background check on him. The murders of Dahmer’s other victims were heinous, but at least five of them could have been avoided if authorities had taken the Sinthasomphone family’s concerns seriously.

Who is in the cast of monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer story?

Evan Peters, a veteran of American Horror Story, will play Jeffrey Dahmer in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. In the first season of the horror anthology series AHS, Peters played the ghost of a school shooter. He also appeared with other known serial killers in a scene with the show’s portrayal of Jeffrey Dahmer in the fifth season (played by Seth Gabel). Evan Peters has been compared to the real Jeffrey Dahmer, making him an ideal choice for the role.

Kieran Tamondong will take on the role of Kokonerak Simthasomphone, the 14-year-old victim who was returned to Dahmer (Warrior). Brayden Maniago (Generations React) will play Somsack, his older brother, and Khetphet Phagnasay will play Southone, their father (Demon Fighter). Nikea Gamby-Turner will play Mildred Lindsey, a relative of Errol Lindsey, the first victim of Dahmer’s “drilling technique” (Insecure).

Richard Jenkins (Step Brothers) and Penelope Ann Miller will play Jeffrey’s parents, Lionel and Joyce Dahmer (American Dresser). There have been rumors about Jeffrey’s childhood, claiming that he was “starved of attention” due to his father’s long hours at college and work. Jeffrey’s mother suffered from depression and spent the majority of her time bedridden after a failed suicide attempt when he was about five years old. Michael Learned will play Jeffrey’s paternal grandmother, Catherine Dahmer (The Waltons). At her house, three of his previous victims were murdered and/or dismembered.

Shaun J. Brown will play Tracy Edwards, the man who discovered the dismembered remains of Dahmer’s victims and alerted authorities (The Dropout). Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s neighbor who tried to alert authorities to his strange behavior two months before he was discovered and imprisoned, will be played by Niecy Nash from Claws.

Colin Ford (Supernatural) will play “Chazz,” and it’s unclear whether he’ll play one of Dahmer’s few childhood friends or a victim whose identity has been changed. Scott Michael Morgan will play Officer Balcerzak, the police officer who returned Simthasomphone to Dahmer (Hidden Figures).

Where and When To Watch

All ten episodes of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story will be available on Netflix on September 21, 2022. When the first trailer was released on September 16, the release date was confirmed.
Evan’s first series regular role since his Emmy-winning performance in Mare of Easttown is as Jeffrey Dahmer. As he takes on one of America’s most notorious serial killers, all eyes will be on the actor on the awards circuit.

“Monster chronicles the story of one of America’s most notorious serial killers, largely told from the perspective of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims and delves deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree,” according to the official synopsis. The series depicts at least ten instances in which Dahmer was almost apprehended but was ultimately released.

The series is also expected to address white privilege, as Dahmer, a clean-cut, good-looking white man, was repeatedly given a free pass by cops and judges who were lenient when he was charged with petty crimes.”

Trailer

The first trailer was released on September 16, less than a week before the premiere of the show. Netflix released a second trailer one day before Monster’s release to “properly showcase the complex story.” This project has generated a lot of interest because it is another collaboration between Evan and Ryan.
