Now that the Harry Potter reunion is upon us, the news is also re-emerging regarding the much-talked-about TV series of the saga. In fact, it seems that Warner Bros is interested in expanding the magical universe with a serial product, which will make us return to Hogwarts. Here’s what was revealed recently.
Ann Sarnoff, CEO of Warner Bros, confirmed to THR that negotiations are underway to expand the Harry Potter universe with a TV series. Sarnoff explained: “We would like to develop more original Harry Potter series and are in regular contact with JK Rowling and her team for that.”
“We have to do it right, though. Whatever we come up with has to be true to the canon of the wizarding world and Harry’s identity.”
A second source, the Daily Mail, explains that he learned from inside sources that the idea would be to make a “live-action Hogwarts series” for HBO Max with a budget of $10 million per episode. This would confirm the rumors about the Harry Potter series developed by the platform that had already been talked about a few months ago. At the moment, the official nature of the thing is still missing, even if the CEO of Warner Bros has already spoken of the desire to expand the universe of Harry Potter by the Studios.
It is unclear whether the team’s ideas are set before or after the Harry Potter story. However, it seems that whatever story is chosen, it will be set within the walls of Hogwarts. At the moment, the only confirmed project is the cast reunion for the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The event will be broadcast simultaneously in the USA on HBO Max on January 1, 2022.
