Starbucks has Pumpkin Spice Lattes, which means it’s time to start counting down the days until the next season of Grey’s Anatomy. In Season 19, there will be a lot less of Ellen Pompeo, but we’ll also get to know a whole new group of interns. In the Season 18 finale, the hospital’s residency program was canceled.

Bailey (Chandra Wilson), who was in charge of the program, quit after hearing the news. This left Meredith (Pompeo) with the choice of leaving Seattle or taking over as interim chief of surgery at the hospital. At the end of the season, it was still unclear what Meredith would do. If she took the job, she would have to give up her relationship with Nick (Scott Speedman), and the two of them had a huge fight in Bailey’s old office, leaving things very uncertain.

That was all on top of the fact that Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver) were on the run after Bailey found out that Hunt had helped several veterans with terminal lung diseases get doctor-assisted deaths.

As Season 19 starts, there is a lot of uncertainty about what will happen to Grey Sloan Memorial. However, new information about casting makes it look like the residency program will be back sooner than expected. So far, this is what we know about Season 19.
