One of Marvel Studios’ most distinctive new films, Deadpool 3 introduces one of the first real newcomers previously owned by 20th Century Fox to the MCU. And now, as a result of an unexpected declaration made directly by Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Ryan Reynolds, the cast of his upcoming third Deadpool movie is among the most talked-about subjects among MCU fans.
Reynolds gleefully revealed that Hugh Jackman will have the wonderful opportunity to play Wolverine at least once in the MCU in addition to the news that Deadpool 3 will hit theatres in less than two years. After originally collaborating in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the two will do so once more, but this time, it will take place in the same realm as Earth and the Multiverse’s Mightiest Heroes

The question of who will make up the remainder of the cast has become more pressing now that Deadpool 3 has a release date and a few all-star cast members.

The existence of characters from both the MCU and the first two Deadpool films means that there are now more possible responses to that question than ever before. The cast of this threequel will be a topic of discussion among fans as the months go by, especially now that those crossover concepts can become a reality.

Without further ado, here are nine characters who might appear in Deadpool 3 from Marvel Studios.

Deadpool 3 Cast

Reynolds as Deadpool

Deadpool 3 wouldn’t be the same without Ryan Reynolds playing the titular anti-hero, and Reynolds has been actively promoting this new film as Wade Wilson, who now officially joins the MCU. No matter who else is confirmed to appear in this new project, Wade will steal the show as he enters a new setting with some of his most beloved Marvel characters.

Wade’s transition from the Fox films to the MCU is depicted in the initial plot specifics as somewhat of a “fish out of water” scenario as he learns what it’s like to live in a setting with the Avengers. Reynolds is in for his largest Deadpool movie yet, with countless potential for additional humor and character growth ahead, even as the plot is still being conceived.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

After an incredible nine appearances in Fox’s X-Men franchise from 2000 to 2017, Hugh Jackman will get his chance at MCU glory in 2024. He’ll set the record for longest superhero career ever, surpassing Patrick Stewart’s 22-year stint as Professor X, as he and Reynolds finally get the buddy movie that fans have imagined since the Disney/Fox merger became official.

The main concern, as highlighted by Reynolds and Jackman in a second new marketing film, is how exactly Logan will be alive for Deadpool 3 after his epic death in 2017’s Logan. Thankfully, with Deadpool’s ability to move effortlessly through time, space, and likely the Multiverse, he’ll find a fun and entertaining way to deliver James Howlett to the MCU in a way that is sure to fire up fans of all levels.

Vanessa – Morena Baccarin

In the opening scenes of 2018’s Deadpool 2, Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa suffered the same death as Wolverine did in 2017’s Logan. But there’s a chance that this might occur in the MCU and bring the love of Wade’s life back for more given that Deadpool traveled back in time to save her life and alter the course of history in the film’s post-credits sequences.

Multiple interviews with Baccarin revealed that she is still unsure about Vanessa’s potential return for Deadpool 3. She is, however, at least open to the idea of joining the MCU, something many fans would dearly love to see given how beautifully Vanessa’s friendship with Wade developed.

sX-23 – Dafne Keen

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was last seen adopting Dafne Keen’s Laura in Logan, who later turned out to be the Wolverine-inspired experiment X-23. Before Logan’s passing, the two developed an amazing friendship, and since that only lasted for one film, fans would love to see Keen continue to work on X-23 in the future.

Keen has indicated interest in reprising the part that she first played five years ago, and she might now play an older and more mature X-23 as she gets closer to her late teen years by the time Deadpool 3 comes out. Considering that Jackman will now drive Deadpool’s shotgun in the MCU premiere, having little Laura along for the ride would undoubtedly change the dynamic between her and her adopted mutant father.

sBlind Al – Leslie Uggams

Wade Wilson revealed in the first two Deadpool films that he shared a home with an elderly, blind Black woman named Al; in fact, he even mentioned her during the famous “fourth-wall break inside a fourth-wall break” from Deadpool (2016). Althea appears to be an important member of Team Deadpool given that she assisted in arming Deadpool for his fight against Ed Skrein’s Francis and that she wasn’t afraid to shoot Josh Brolin’s Cable.

Reynolds shared the news with Uggams in a witty Twitter conversation, so she was thankfully the second cast member to be formally confirmed for Deadpool 3 after Reynolds. Now that she’ll be able to act snarky alongside Wolverine and the best of the MCU, the Marvel Studios brand can only expect some hilarious new interactions.

Domino – Zazie Beetz

Wade Wilson eventually added the lucky Domino to his X-Force team in Deadpool 2, and Zazie Beetz won accolades for her portrayal of the character. There’s a chance that Beetz might reprise the part in Deadpool 3 if her good fortune continues into the real world.
Even though Beetz has undoubtedly expressed interest and even hope in returning to her role, this choice may prove more difficult given that the release of DC’s Joker: Folie a Deux, which she will appear in, will occur just one month after that of Deadpool 3 in 2024. However, having a hero that fortunate in the MCU could only benefit the Merc with a Mouth, giving fans hope that both of Beetz’s projects will succeed.

Colossus – Stefan Kapicic

In Fox’s X-Men universe, Colossus underwent a new interpretation in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, as he attempted to lead the X-Men and persuade Wade Wilson to join the team in order to keep him from engaging in his customary Deadpool-san antics. The silver-plated mutant will be needed more than ever to keep the damages to a minimum, even if that won’t happen, as the MCU has given us a brand-new cosmos to explore and wreak havoc in.

Fortunately, actor Stefan Kapicic has often hinted that he’ll be back for Deadpool 3, most recently hinting at the possibility that he’s already been cast at Wales Comic-Con as he disclosed that the film shoots in 2019. Fans can only speculate as to how amusing Colossus will become once he begins swearing and engaging in violent combat following Deadpool 2, especially given the abundance of new character interactions that are now conceivable.

Dopinder – Karan Son

It’s difficult to think where Deadpool would be now if Karan Soni’s Dopinder, the endearing cabbie who was essential to both of Ryan Reynolds’ first two films, hadn’t appeared. Developing his abilities and courage to the point where he drove his cab into Eddie Marsan’s headmaster and killed the villain with great brutality.

Soni admitted just over a year ago that he had no idea whether or not he will appear in Deadpool 3 despite the fact that his deal with Fox called for four films. But he added that he’s eager to see where Deadpool can go in upcoming films, expressing his interest in how the plot develops now that Wade Wilson has joined the MCU.

Thor – Chris Hemsworth

Fans are naturally wondering which current MCU stars Ryan Reynolds will first encounter now that Deadpool has the chance to continue his adventure in the same universe as the Avengers. After Reynolds collaborated with Korg from Taika Waititi’s Free Guy commercial, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has become the most frequently mentioned character in MCU discussions.

In addition to the writers of Deadpool 3 Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick hinting at the possibility of the God of Thunder joining the adventure, Hemsworth himself even made light of the idea of joining forces with Reynolds in an effort to break the record for the longest Marvel career. Hugh Jackman will continue to hold that distinction because of his own confirmed participation in the threequel, but the idea of Thor and Deadpool teaming up would undoubtedly cause a stir among MCU fans nationwide.

Deadpool 3 Plot

“Looking to go in a completely different direction” is how Reynolds described the threequel, and he added jokingly: “Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.”
Despite the fact that the threequel’s original director claimed it didn’t require a R rating to be fantastic, the film will indeed be rated R, so don’t worry about that.

Deadpool has “established” itself as an R-rated franchise, Feige stated in February 2021.
Reese and Wernick promised that the threequel wouldn’t be “Disney-fied” after they joined the project.

“They will allow Deadpool to be himself, you know? It’s not as if they could point to a specific joke and say, “You know, that’s too far.” Although nothing but support has been provided up to this time, “confident Reese.

It’s unclear how the MCU connection of the film will affect the story’s continuity with the first two films, or if it’ll essentially be a soft reboot. Does this imply that Deadpool 3 will have a bigger emphasis on time travel?

When we last saw Negasonic Teenage Warhead, she was repairing Cable’s time machine so that Deadpool could make up for regrettable but hilarious career decisions made by Ryan Reynolds in the past.

According to a Reese plot tease, the third Deadpool movie will directly address the fact that he is now in a completely different universe than before rather than retconning his MCU status.

“For fish out of water, it’s a fantastic opportunity. The protagonist of a film is a psychotic named Deadpool. It’s easy to drop a lunatic into a very rational world. It will be a lot of fun, “Reese took note.

Reynolds had tweeted in January 2021 that the third film would be a Rashomon-style road trip with Deadpool and Wolverine before the Disney-Fox merger. This was before Jackman’s involvement was confirmed.

Deadpool 3 Release Date and Time

As was already mentioned, Deadpool 3 will indeed hit theatres on September 6, 2024.
In MCU semantics, this either designates the third installment as the conclusion of Phase 5 or the start of Phase 6. The latter is more feasible because Marvel did establish a release date for an untitled movie or TV show in Phase 6 for the fall of 2024.

Even though we now know the film’s release date, we still don’t know when it will begin production. However, we can assume that it will begin in 2023 to guarantee that September 2024 will be the film’s release date. However, there is always a chance of delays.

Is There a Deadpool 3 Trailer?

Not yet, because production on the threequel isn’t expected to begin until next year, in 2023.
