Disney has restructured its picture release plan, delaying the debuts of “Blade,” “Deadpool 3,” “Fantastic Four,” and other important Marvel titles.

As part of the reshuffling, “Blade” has been moved from November 3, 2023, to September 6, 2024, causing ripples across the rest of the MCU. “Deadpool 3” has been rescheduled from Sept. 6, 2024, to Nov. 8, 2024; “Fantastic Four” has been moved from Nov. 8, 2024, to Feb. 14, 2025; an untitled Marvel film has been pushed from Feb. 14, 2025, to Nov. 7, 2025; “Avengers: Secret Wars” has been pushed from Nov. 7, 2025, to May 1, 2026; and another untitled Marvel film scheduled for May 1, 2026, has been removed from Disney

“Chevalier,” starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. as the musician Chevalier de Saint-Georges, will debut in theatres on April 7, 2023; “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is scheduled for May 24, 2024; and “A Haunting in Venice” is scheduled for September 15, 2023.

In the case of “Blade,” the one-year delay is not surprising in light of the recent revelation that director Bassam Tariq has left the project, leaving the film without a helmer. Marvel has halted production of the film starring Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire slayer while the studio searches for a new director.

Given the linked nature of the stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the significant delay for “Blade” had repercussions for the other films under development. The next Marvel film to be released will be “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in November, which will conclude Phase Four of the MCU.

The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, revealed in July at the San Diego Comic-Con that “Fantastic Four” will launch Phase Six, with “Blade” and “Deadpool 3” completing Phase Five.
