The first episode of Bravo’s “Below Deck Mediterranean” aired in 2016 (via E! News), and viewers fell in love with the cast, the gorgeous setting, and, of course, the unforgettable fights, friendships, and seaward romance that characterized the show. The reality show is a spinoff of the popular reality series “Below Deck,” which debuted in 2013. For the past six seasons, a crew of deckhands, stewards, and a chef have did manage to juggle never-ending drama while tending to the needs of demanding wealthy guests onboard the yacht. The crew, despite its shortcomings, manages the drama and demands in some of the world’s most beautiful locations, including Greece, Croatia, Italy, the south of France, and the Spanish island of Mallorca, according to Bravo.
Captain Lee Rosbach spoke with The Guardian about the show’s popularity, nearly a decade after it first aired on Bravo and before it was canceled. “It’s like Downton Abbey on the water,” Captain Rosbach described the experience. “A lot of people predicted that this would spell the end of the yachting industry, but that hasn’t been the case so far. I’ve received very little negative feedback.”
In contrast to previous seasons, season 6 of “Below Deck Mediterranean” featured a mostly green cast that had never been seen before. Hannah Ferrier was absent from the season, which was a first for the show. So, what can we expect from Season 7 of “Below Deck Mediterranean” in terms of plot?
Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7 Release Date
The fact that the Season 6 finale of “Below Deck Mediterranean” aired only in October may be a contributing factor to the fact that Bravo has yet to announce when (and if) Season 7 will begin production. Season 7 of The Bachelor was reportedly filmed in Malta, according to an Instagram post from Lovin Malta published in September, though this has not been confirmed by Bravo or the show’s producers. While the newest season is focused on Croatia, the crew was spotted by some keen-eyed Maltese fans doing some work while enjoying some sun and fun in Mellieha, according to a photo posted on Instagram. Season 7 of the show is expected to premiere sometime during the second quarter of 2022.
Season 6 of “Below Deck Mediterranean,” in the same vein as previous seasons, had almost too much drama for one person to handle. It was reported by The Cinemaholic that one of the more dramatic moments of the season occurred when stewardess Lexi Wilson was fired after neglecting her workload in order to engage in banter with chef Mathew Shea. It’s unclear what exactly will transpire during Season 7 of the show, but one thing is certain: there will be plenty of dramatic scenes.
Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7 Cast
Season 6 was notable in that it featured a large number of new cast members, as previously stated. Indeed, Captain Sandy Yawn and bosun Malia White were the only characters from the first season to return. In accordance with Bravo, the new crew members included chief stew Katie Flood, chef Mathew Shea, stews Lexi Wilson and Courtney Veale, as well as deckhands David Pascoe, Lloyd Spencer, and Mzi “Zee” Dempers.
As is customary, Captain Sandy serves as the ship’s captain. Despite working in an extremely male-dominated field, she is an intelligent, sassy, and stern leader who has earned a reputation for herself. In an interview with Bravo, Captain Sandy shared her thoughts on being a female captain in the industry. “Being a female captain in this industry is both challenging and inspiring for me because I thrive on problem-solving,” she said. “Having the advantage of being a woman in the traditionally male-dominated yachting industry is a result of my ability to multi-task while also managing the emotions of my crew members. I have made the decision not to come from a position of power and control, and it has proven to be extremely effective in my experience.”
Former chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier, who was fired during Season 5, chef Ben Robinson (who initially earned Bravo infamy), chef Adam Glick, who appeared on the recently concluded Season 1 of “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” and stewardess Brooke Laughton (via Us Weekly) have all been among the most prominent figures on “Below Deck Mediterranean.”
Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7 Plot
The uncontrollable drama between Lexi Wilson and Mathew Shea was the focus of the sixth season of ‘Below Deck Mediterranean,’ which was exhausting to watch. The stew would engage in endless banter with the chef, which would have a negative impact on the overall dynamic of the crew on many occasions. As a result, near the end of the season, Captain made the decision to fire Lexi, leaving Katie and Courtney as the only two members responsible for the interiors. Both of them managed to get through the last four charters by relying solely on their willpower and patience.
In the final moments of the Season 6 finale, Captain Sandy treated the crew to dinner as a way of celebrating the conclusion of a successful season. They will be welcoming new members to the crew for the upcoming edition, as they are currently short on personnel. Given that the current lineup of crew members appears to be getting along quite well, it will be interesting to see who instigates a spirit of hostility and aggression in the upcoming season.
