Bobby Lee was born in San Diego County, California, on September 17, 1971, to Korean American parents Jeanie and Robert Lee. He was born and raised in Poway, California, with his younger brother Steve. In both Escondido and Encinitas, California, his parents ran clothing stores.
Lee attended Poway High School, Twin Peaks Middle School, and Painted Rock Elementary School. He was a member of a breakdancing squad in high school. While attending Palomar College, Lee left his parent’s home and worked in cafes and coffee shops in San Diego. He dropped out of Palomar College later on.
