Why Did Hoda Kotb Confirms Breakup With Joel Schiffman?

The anchor of the Today Show According to insiders who spoke to Page Six last week, Hoda Kotb called off her engagement to Joel Schiffman because she didn’t think their marriage would work out. Hoda  Kotb and Joel Schiffman broke up over the holidays, but Kotb didn’t reveal the news until January 31. They have two kids, Haley, 4, and Hope, 2, and have been married for eight years.

Sources tell Page Six the two splits around Christmas, the day after Kotb discussed the break-up on Today with Hoda and Jenna. After followers saw she wasn’t wearing her engagement ring in Instagram images, she decided to talk. According to sources close to the journalist, she believes their union will fail.

Following “a lot of prayerful and serious chats” in December, Kotb, 57, told Today viewers that she and Schiffman, 63, realized they were better off as friends. She claimed that the breakup was not caused by a single event. “Something didn’t happen. Relationships are considered to be there for a reason, whether it’s for a season or a lifetime, and this was one of them “stated Kotb

Schiffman, a financier, was mentioned solely positively by Kotb. “He’s an outstanding individual. I consider myself fortunate to have spent eight years with him because he is a very kind and kind person “she remarked. “We’re both well and on our way. We’ll raise those two wonderful children well.”

Despite being together for eight years, Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman didn’t get married until 2019. They had planned to marry in November 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to postpone their wedding.

Kotb told Today’s co-host Jenna Bush Hager in July 2021 that she and her Today co-host were only waiting to make sure everybody could travel. “We want to do it in a place that we love deep in our soul that means a lot to us, and we want our closest to come,” Kotb said at the time. “‘Why are we waiting?’ Joel kept asking. Let’s simply get going.'”

As NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics continues, Kotb has largely concentrated on sharing Winter Olympics photos on her Instagram profile since the breakup. She did, however, tweet a sweet photo of Haley Joy carrying a makeshift flame on February 4th. “Who will compete in the [Olympics]? We are!! “she replied.

Hoda told People that she isn’t ruling out the possibility of dating again while honoring the 70th anniversary of TODAY at the Paley Center for Media in New York City.

“I haven’t really thought about who I would see myself with, but I do have to say something,” she said at the Wednesday event. “My sister even said and asked me at one point, ‘Are (you) afraid to be by yourself?’ And I said to her, ‘I’m not going to be by myself.’ And I don’t know why I said it so clearly, but I actually knew that my heart is open. I have an open heart.”

“I know at some point and I can see it, it will happen” Hoda continued. “When? I can’t say but I assured her I said, ‘Oh, don’t worry. No worries. I said I’m going to be just fine.’”

Savannah Guthrie stated that she is “available” to support Hoda in her search for a date. Savannah remarked that in order to find a “worthy” and “amazing” suitor for her buddy, she will have to vet everyone she considers to be a potential match.

“I don’t want to go through my application process. The screening will be detailed. My clipboard, 10-pages (of) question,” Savannah continued.

“That’s really what we want to do,” At the time, she stated.

Fans had begun to notice that Hoda wasn’t wearing her engagement ring when she appeared on the show in January, and that’s when the news emerged that she and Schiffman were no longer together.

On TODAY, Hoda stated, “It’s not like something happened.” “They believe that certain relationships are designed to last a lifetime, a season, or a reason. And I believe ours was only supposed to remain there for a season.”

Despite their decision to part ways, Hoda expressed gratitude for the opportunity to know Schiffman.
