In Greensboro, North Carolina, Hooker attended James B. Dudley High School. During his High School Career, he passed for 6,027 yards and 55 touchdowns and rushed for 2,975 yards and 48 touchdowns. He finished his career at Dudley as the all-time leader in passing as a two-time All-state player and NC Preps’ All-state Player of the Year.

The 2016 Championship MVP award was given to Hooker after he led his team to two state titles with six touchdowns.
