Who Is Mr. Eklund?

The English version of Dawit’s name is David, which he also goes by. His Facebook page says that he is from the capital of Ethiopia, which is Addis Ababa. A March 2016 article in the Washington Post about Dawit said that he grew up in places like Bangladesh, Egypt, Kenya, and Sudan because his parents worked for the U.S. government.

Daily Mail says that Dawit’s dad, John Eklund, has worked for the US State Department for a long time. His 72-year-old father has worked at several US embassies in Africa over the course of his career. John did a lot to help the hundreds of thousands of people who fled the fighting in Sudan and went to Ethiopia as refugees at the beginning of the 2000s.

Yeshi, on the other hand, is from Ethiopia. She is 66 years old right now. She comes from a business family in Ethiopia that has done very well. His sister Sara Eklund brought menstrual cups to Ethiopia, which was written about in a 2019 Vogue article.

Both of his parents have been living in Abidjan, the capital of the West African country of Côte d’Ivoire, since his dad, John retired. They also have a house in Chantilly, Virginia, which is just outside of Washington, D.C.

The difference between Malia and Dawit’s ages is nine years. Next week, Eklund will turn 33, but Malia just turned 24 on July 4, 2022.

In 2016, the Washington Post wrote about the music label and said, “Their music seamlessly combines house music grooves, the stutter of U.K. garage, an uneasy electronic ambiance, and – perhaps most notably – Ethiopian folk music.”

In a previous conversation with the media outlet, Dawit said, “Ethiopian music is very different. They only play in four or five scales, and each one has its own meaning, attitude, and mood.

In a different Washington Post article, Eklund was called “one of Washington’s most exciting dance music producers.” This isn’t because he mixes styles from all over the world, but because he spent a lot of his youth learning how to talk to different kinds of people.
