What Happened To Pele? All About His Health!

Pele, a former football player for Brazil, is in a hospital in Sao Paulo getting treatment for a respiratory infection that was made worse by COVID-19. The legendary Brazilian soccer player has not been moved to end-of-life care, as some news outlets had said earlier, his family said Sunday.

It was said earlier that Pele’s bowel cancer, which was diagnosed in September 2021, was no longer responding to chemotherapy and that he had been moved to palliative or end-of-life care.

Palliative care is when people with serious or terminal illnesses are given medical help and physical comfort. Pele has lived for 82 years. He was taken to the hospital on Tuesday because of the infection in his lungs.

Pele is also getting chemo at the Albert Einstein Hospital, according to his two daughters and one grandson. One of Pele’s daughters, Kely Nascimento, told TV Globo, “He is sick and old.” “But he is there right now because he has a lung infection.” “And when he’s better, he’ll go back home.”

But Pele’s cancer is not in remission. This means that the disease’s signs and symptoms have not gone away.

“He is sick and old, but right now he is being treated for a respiratory infection, and when he gets better he will go home,” Kely was quoted as saying by Reuters.  “He’s not saying goodbye right now in a hospital.”

On Saturday afternoon, a medical bulletin from the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo said that Pele was in stable condition and was getting good care for a respiratory infection.
