Walker Buehler was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 24th overall choice in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, and he signed a $1.78 million bonus deal on July 17, 2015. Unfortunately, not long after signing, it was revealed that he would require Tommy John surgery and so miss a year and a half of play while recovering.
Buehler made his major league debut on August 23, 2016, with the Arizona League Dodgers, retiring all six batters he faced and striking out three. On August 28, he was assigned to the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League.
