Phil Collins Net Worth in 2022 Is Unbelievably High Despite Health Issues

He is an English drummer, singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. His solo career began in 1981 and he is better known as the drummer and lead singer of Genesis. From 1982 through 1990, Collins had three UK and seven US number one singles. In the 1980s, he had more US top 40 hits with Genesis, other artists, and solo than any other performer. [8] “In the Air Tonight”, “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now),” “Sussudio”, and “Another Day in Paradise” were his most popular hits during this era.

Collins, from west London, began playing drums at the age of five and attended acting school, landing him jobs as a child actor, including the Artful Dodger in Oliver! Following Peter Gabriel’s departure, he joined Genesis as drummer in 1970 and became lead singer in 1975. His 1980s solo career was influenced by his marital dissolution and love of soul music, with albums such as Face Value, Hello, I Must Be Going, No Jacket Required, and…But Seriously (1989). AllMusic calls Collins “one of the most popular pop and adult contemporary vocalists of the ’80s and beyond.” [9] On many of his tracks, he used a gated reverb percussion sound. Only performer to appear at both Live Aid performances in 1985. He returned to acting, first in Miami Vice and then in Buster (1988). To write music for Disney’s Tarzan (1999), Collins quit Genesis in 1996 and won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “You’ll Be in My Heart”. For the 2007 tour, he rejoined Genesis. Collins released his autobiography in 2016 and finished his Not Dead Yet Tour in 2019. In March 2022, he reunited Genesis for a second reunion tour.

As a result, he is one of the world’s best-selling musicians, with eight studio albums selling 33.5 million certified sales in the US alone. Along with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, he is one of only three musicians to have sold over 100 million records as a solo artist and as a band member. He has eight Grammys, six Brit Awards (three for Best British Male Artist), two Golden Globes, an Oscar, and a Disney Legend Award. Severed ties with the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of Genesis. He was also inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013.

Early life :

Philip David Charles Collins was born in Chiswick, Middlesex, England, on January 30, 1951. (what is now part of the London Borough of Hounslow). In addition to his two siblings, Greville Philip Austin Collins and Winifred June Collins (née Strange) reared their children. Collins received a toy drum kit when he was five years old. Parents would replace it with more full sets as he grew and trained and became better. A huge influence on him is the Beatles, particularly Ringo Starr.

Early Music Career :

Having previously played on two albums with Genesis, Collins began his professional music career in 1970 as a drummer. He was also Peter Gabriel’s backup vocalist while he was a member of Genesis. The only two songs he got to sing lead on were “For Absent Friends” from 1971’s “Nursery Cryme” album and “More Fool Me” from 1973’s “Selling England by the Pound. Collins replaced Gabriel as the group’s vocalist after he left. Genesis’ vocalist, who was described as sounding “more like Gabriel than Gabriel did,” had multiple albums released as the band’s lead singer, including “A Trick of the Tail,” “…And Then There Were Three…”, Duke, Abacab, Genesis, Invisible Touch, and We Can’t Dance (1991).

Phil Collins’s net worth is estimated to be in the neighbourhood of $1 billion. One of the world’s wealthiest musicians and songwriters is English singer-songwriter Phil Collins, who is worth $300 million USD. Both as a solo artist and a member of Genesis, he has sold more than 100 million records throughout the world to date. In the history of music, just three performers — Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, and Paul McCartney — have sold more than 100 million records both as solo artists and as members of groups. He has won seven Grammys, two Golden Globes, and an Oscar for his work.

Collins may make up to $50 million in a single year of touring. For instance, he made $45 million after his “Not Dead Yet Tour” grossed $90 million.

Solo Recording Career :

Collins departed Genesis in March 1996 so that he could concentrate on his solo career. In addition to his work as a member of Genesis, he was also releasing his own solo albums. “Face Value” (1981), “Hello, I Gotta Be Going!” (1982), “No Jacket Required” (1985), “…But Seriously” (1989), and “Both Sides” (1990) are some of his solo albums (1993). After he left the band, he started the Phil Collins Big Band and played drums with it. They went on the road and played jazz standards as well as Collin’s own compositions and Genesis favourites. “Dance into the Light,” his sixth solo studio album, was released in October 1996. Even though it peaked at No. 4 in the UK and No. 23 in the US charts, this was his lowest-grossing solo album to date despite its financial success.

For Disney’s next animated picture “Tarzan,” Collins has been tapped to compose and perform songs (1999). Collins sang his songs in dubbed versions of the film and soundtrack in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish, and the results were warmly welcomed. There were 19 weeks in a row when “You’ll Be in My Heart” was Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart-topper, which had never before been achieved by a single song. For “You’ll Be in My Heart,” he received both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 2000.

At the time of its release, Collins’ album “Testify” was the least-reviewed of all time (it has since been surpassed). When “Brother Bear” was released in 2003, he returned to Disney to perform on the soundtrack (2003). On the soundtrack, Collins not only sang, but he also wrote and composed numerous songs, including “Look Through My Eyes.” Going Back” was his eighth solo album released in 2010.

Collins agreed to have all of his solo recordings remastered with Warner Music Group in 2015. His autobiography, “Not Dead Yet,” was released in 2016. Since then, he has toured extensively, both as a solo artist and as a member of the Genesis band (the band have reunited a few times, such as in 2006 for their “Turn It On Again: The Tour” reunion tour). Seven Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, three American Music Awards, an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Disney Legend Award were among the distinctions he received for his solo work.

Personal Life :

There are three marriages in Collins’ past, and there are three divorces in her past. Andrea Bertorelli was his first wife, from 1975 to 1980. When they were just 11 years old, they first met in a London theatre class. When they saw Genesis in Vancouver, they were introduced and began dating. Simon Collins, the ex-vocalist and ex-drummer of rock band Sound of Contact, is their only child.

His second marriage to Jill Tavelman, which lasted from 1984 until 1996, was the longest of his two. Collins reportedly paid Tavelman $25 million as part of their divorce settlement. Lily Collins, their only child, was born as a result of their union.

From 1999 to 2008, he was married to Orianne Cevey, his third wife. Collins gave Cevey $45 million as part of their divorce settlement. They are the parents of two sons.

From 2007 through 2016, he was romantically involved with American news journalist Dana Tyler. His ex-wife Cevey and their two boys were living in Miami at the time of their breakup. Then, according to reports, the two reunited.
