In a new clip that was posted on Twitter, voice actress and Transformers star Peter Cullen talked about how the character’s voice was made and who it was based on. “When I first voiced Prime, I was living with my brother Larry, who was in the Marines,” Cullen says. “I’m going to an audition,” I said. “I’ll be a truck.” He started laughing and said, “A truck?! “This is a leader,” I said. It’s a hero.’ And he just changed his mood. He just went, ‘Well, Peter. If you want to be a leader, you have to be strong enough to be kind. And when I got to the test, I said, “My name is Optimus Prime, and I’m from the planet Cybertron.” I was sure this is how a hero should sound, and I would get the part.”
