On Saturday Night Live, Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson Announces Their Departures From ‘SNL’

In her ten seasons on Saturday Night Live, Kate McKinnon, 38, won two Emmys and was nominated for nine more, including impressions of Hillary Clinton and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

After Saturday’s 47th season finale, Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson are among those leaving Saturday Night Live, leaving the sketch show without probably its two most renowned personalities.

Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney will also depart the cast after the Natasha Lyonne-hosted episode.

On a show that has been unusually stable in previous seasons, the departures signal one of the greatest cast shake-ups in years.

In her ten seasons on the show, McKinnon, 38, won two Emmys and was nominated for nine more, including impressions of Hillary Clinton and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Her comedic abilities with characters like extraterrestrial abductee Miss Rafferty frequently caused castmates and guest hosts to lose their cool live on TV.

McKinnon kicked off the show with an out-of-this-world skit before saying her goodbyes on “Earth.”

“I love ya, thanks for letting me stay awhile. Live from New York, it’s Saturday night,” she began the show.

Davidson, 28, joined the ensemble in 2014 and has already appeared in eight seasons. His own colossal personality frequently overshadowed the roles he portrayed. His “Weekend Update” comedy commentary segments were frequently his most popular. He was also well-known for his off-screen life, which included dating Ariana Grande and his current girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Davidson said on the show, “I never anticipated this would be my life.” “I’m grateful to SNL for always having my back and helping me to improve and flourish.” Lauren, thank you for never giving up on me or criticizing me when everyone else did, for believing in me, and for providing me with a place to call home and memories that will last a lifetime. “I appreciate it.”

Bryant, 35, joined the ensemble at the same time as McKinnon and has since been a regular in skits, earning four Emmy nods.
