The California pilot who says he had a six-year gay relationship with actor John Travolta while they were both in the air is saying more about it.
In a story in the National Enquirer that Travolta’s team called “ridiculous,” pilot Doug Gotterba said he met the “Grease” star for the first time when he interviewed for a pilot job in February 1981. By September, they were dating.
Gotterba, 62, told The Enquirer, “I know when the affair started because I still have the log book and records. “He said they flew together to Monterey, California, and shared a “fantastic” bottle of Merlot wine at dinner at the Highlands Resort in Carmel.
Gotterba said he was ready for the invitation, and after the massage, they went straight to bed.
“John was gentle, but fervent.”Gotterba told The Enquirer, “The next day, he told me with a big smile on his face, “I really enjoyed last night.”
The pilot said he told Travolta to get a girlfriend as a cover, and that’s when the actor started dating Brooke Shields. Gotterba said that the affair ended in 1986 as tensions grew.
