Irene Starrs Cause Of Death
Irene Starrs’ life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer. Irene and her family were taken aback by the news. Fairfax Inova Hospital and her caring oncologist, Dr. Benyounes, provided her with outstanding care.
Things were uncertain at first, and time seemed to be running out. She did, however, respond well to treatment, and despite hurdles and concerns, she had nearly a year of relatively decent health, which was quite astonishing.
Elizabeth’s response to treatment began to deteriorate in August 2022, so she enrolled in a research trial in September 2022. Unfortunately, her health deteriorated during the experiment, and it became evident that it was not producing the anticipated effects. Irene was unable to pursue further treatments or participate in another experiment due to her frail state.
Her final three weeks were spent at home in hospice, surrounded by loved ones and making treasured memories. Irene died peacefully on November 15th, 2022, after receiving final rites and with her family by her side. People remember Starrs’ journey and the fortitude she showed during her cancer battle. Her strength, love for her family, and time spent in hospice show her unwavering spirit. May she rest in peace, remembered for her bravery and the legacy she has left behind.

Irene Starrs died on November 15th after receiving last rites, surrounded by her family. Irene joins her father, Edward Kelly, in death. She is survived by her mother Catherine Kelly, brothers Mike, Jim, Tom, Steve, and Chris, husband Joe, daughters Maria, Sarah, Bridget, Hannah, Abby, and Julia, sons-in-law Matt and Christian, and grandchildren Dillon and Adeline. She will be greatly missed by all.

Irene Starrs Age
On August 2, 1964, the director of Youth Ministry was born. She died at the age of 59, leaving a lasting legacy of influence and inspiration. Irene influenced the lives of countless people throughout her life through her dedicated work in youth ministry and education.
Education was very important in the director’s life. She attended James Madison High School and earned a dual major in Math and Religion at the College of William & Mary, providing her with a well-rounded education.
She continued her academic path after her mission year at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, where she received a Master’s degree in Theology. During her stay at university, Starrs made lasting acquaintances who would be important in her life. Irene met her beloved spouse, Joe, through these contacts.
Her professional path led her to become a Bishop O’Connell High School teacher, where she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with young minds. She later worked as a committed Youth Minister at St. Thomas à Becket Parish in Virginia.

Catherine and Edward Kelly raised Starrs in the Bronx, New York. She spent her early youth in California and Maryland before relocating to Vienna, Virginia, where she grew up with her five brothers. She went to James Madison High School and later majored in Math and Religion at the College of William and Mary.
During her missionary service with NET Ministries from 1986 to 1987, her calling to youth ministry flourished. Her love for serving others was sparked while traveling throughout the country, organizing retreats, and sharing the Gospel with young people.
Because of her commitment to education and her Catholic religion, the director homeschooled her children for twenty-one years. She also taught classes at several universities, supported homeschooling mothers, and stayed involved in the homeschooling community. Aside from her career and ministry, Starrs was passionate about genealogy and enjoyed family trips and pastimes such as reading and discussing books.
