Jaclyn, the wife of Creed’s frontman Scott Stapp for the past 18 years, has initiated divorce proceedings. Their separation wasn’t unexpected, as reported by Page Six, stating that Jaclyn, aged 43, filed for divorce from the 50-year-old musician in June 2022.
Although she withdrew her filing by May 2023, Scott later filed for divorce again. A source, speaking to People magazine after news of their third divorce filing, mentioned, “Scott and Jaclyn had realized the marriage was ending but kept attempting to salvage it.”
A spokesperson for the singer also commented, stating, “In consideration of their family, Scott plans to handle this challenging period in private.”
Their paths first crossed at a gala for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in New York back in 2005, where Jaclyn held the title of Miss New York USA. After the announcement of the former couple’s divorce, the rock singer shared a mysterious message on his Instagram account regarding leaving an adversary “with their dignity.”
Reposting a sermon from pastor TD Jakes, 66, it stated: “Speak without causing offense, listen without becoming defensive, and always ensure your opponent retains their dignity.”
In 2015, Scott disclosed that he battles bipolar disorder and expressed gratitude for surviving a psychotic breakdown he experienced that year.
The musician gained attention in 2014 when he placed several frantic 911 calls out of fear for his family’s well-being. Later, in an interview with People magazine, he admitted, “I had a psychotic break triggered by alcohol and drug misuse.”
Upon receiving a bipolar disorder diagnosis during his rehabilitation, Scott was taken aback but found solace in it. He confessed to People, “It was difficult to accept,” acknowledging the stigma often attached to the condition.
This development coincides with the announcement that Creed, comprising vocalist Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips, will reunite for their first performances in 12 years.
